Bahrain joins the freedom campaign

p2pnet view P2P | Freedom:- It can happen anywhere. And it’s all about connections.

People connecting.

P2P.

Now the former rulers of Bahrain are experiencing what can happen when ordinary people decide they’re in charge of their own destinies.

Anon News has this statement from Anonymous on #OpBahrain >>>

Dear Free-Thinking Citizens of THE WORLD

The Bahrainian government has shown by its actions that it intends to  brutally enforce its reign of injustice by limiting free speech and  access to truthful information to its citizens and the rest of the  world. It is time to call for an end to this oppressive regime. The most  basic human right is the transparency of one’s government, and  Bahrain’s is no exception.

By interfering with the freedom to hold peaceful protests, the Bahrainian  government has made itself a clear enemy of its own citizens and of  Anonymous. The actions of this regime will not be forgotten, nor will  they be forgiven.

When people are faced with such injustices, Anonymous hears those cries, and  we will assist in bringing to justice those who commit criminal acts  against the innocent. We will not remain silent and let these crimes  against humanity continue. The attempts to censor the Bahrainian people from the Internet – which prevents them from communicating their  struggle to the outside world – are  despicable stratagies and show the  cowardness of this regime, as well as the measures they are willing to  take to cover their crimes.

To the people of Bahrain: We stand with you  against your oppressors. This is not only your struggle, but one of  people who are struggling for freedom all over the world. With the  recent success in Tunisia and Egypt, we believe your revolution will  succeed. Your brave actions will maintain the momentum of revolution for  citizens all around the world wishing to regain their own freedoms.

We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

Says Al Jazeera >>>

The Bahrain capital of Manama was rocked by sporadic clashes, hours after riot police attacked a makeshift encampment of pro-reform protesters in the centre of the city, killing at least four and injuring dozens of others.

An Al Jazeera correspondent, who cannot be named for security reasons, said on Thursday that “clashes were no longer limited to one place…they are now spread out in different parts of the city”.

He said that the hospitals are full of injured people after last night’s police raid on the protesters.

“Some of them are severely injured with gunshots. Patients include doctors and emergency personnel who were overrun by the police while trying to attend to the wounded.”

Another Al Jazeera online producer said that booms could be heard from different parts of the city, suggesting that “tear-gas is being used to disperse the protesters in several neighbourhoods”.

Latest reports, however, indicated that a tense calm had descended on the capital with troops patroling the streets.

There were also reports of dozens of armoured vehicles moving towards the Pearl Roundabout, the protest site that was raided by the riot police.

Heavily-armed police stormed the traffic circle while the protesters camping overnight were asleep.

Speaking to Al Jazeera from Salmaniya hospital, the main medical facility in Manama, Maryama Alkawaka of Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, said that she saw dozens of injured demonstrators being wheeled into emergency rooms early on Thursday morning.

Nazea Saeed, a journalist with Radio Monte Carlo, said hundreds of people had gathered at the hospital.

Speaking to Al Jazeera from the scene, she said the crowd is chanting: “Down with Al-Khalifa”, in reference to the country’s ruling family.

“People are also chanting that the blood of the victims will not be in vain,” she added.

Stay tuned.
