HBGary pulls out of RSA Conference
p2pnet view P2P | Freedom:- Anyone who doubts the power of the net to force dramatic changes, or who disses Anonymous as a bunch of no-account hackers, has only to look towards Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria —-
—- and/or US ‘security’ firm HBGary, self-professed adviser to Obama intelligence agencies, run by one Greg Hoglund (right) and his dim but amusing side-kick, Aaron Barr.
It’s like a really bad Hollywood farce, except no one could dream this one up.
Yesterday, the site carried a number of appearance announcements for Hoglund, among them news that it’d be at the RSA Conference.
Today, however, “A group of aggressive hackers known as ‘Anonymous’ illegally broke into computer systems and stole proprietary and confidential information from HBGary, Inc”, it says, on its site, adding >>>
This breach was in violation of federal and state laws, and stolen information was publicly released without our consent.
In addition to the data theft, HBGary individuals have received numerous threats of violence including threats at our tradeshow booth.
In an effort to protect our employees, customers and the RSA Conference community, HBGary has decided to remove our booth and cancel all talks.
HBGary is continuing to work intensely with law enforcement on this matter and hopes to bring those responsible to justice.
Thank you to all of our employees, our customers and the security community for your continued support.
HBGary, Inc.
No doubt one of the targets will be the 16-year-old girl who worked her way around HBGary’s vaunted (by itself) in-house ‘security’.
Stay tuned.

Threats? Likely. Rejection from real security companies who don’t want HBGary-like companies tarnishing their reputation, or bringing the light in their direction to showcase their own faults, is also equally likely.

Since we already know that HBGary infiltrated Anonymous, how can we be sure that these purported “threats of violence” were not originating from HBGary employees themselves?
What better way to defame and discredit Anonymous, and pressure law enforcement to tighten the noose?
February 15th, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Threats? BULLSHIT.
They are to embarrassed to show up and claiming they are afraid of “threats of violence” to save face.
These guys are too cowardly to face the ridicule they are due, and this is a bullshit spin-job that doesn’t fool anybody.
Is HBGary run by misbehaving 4-year old toddlers? They are an absolute embarrassment and their only business is apparently scamming the taxpayers.

“In addition to the data theft, HBGary individuals have received numerous threats of violence including threats at our tradeshow booth”
Ya right! What a pack of liars! it seem that being in charge of corporation automatically qualify you as an immoral, asocial, low life criminal and a liar.
This is particularly true for Greg Hoglund and Aaron Barr as revealed by the leaked Email. More lies and disinformations are thus expected from these guys.
This is who is making the money these day in our societies. The liars and the criminals.

“Since we already know that HBGary infiltrated Anonymous,”
You can not infiltrate anonymous because anonymous members does not know each others. You can pretend to be part of anonymous though and issue threats. Pretending to be part of anonymous is meaningless though since anyone can pretend.

Yes anyone can pretend…..HBGary pretends to be a secruity company. So far- not a very secure company- and not a well managed company. A business model of conspricy to commit felonies including phising, hacking, dispersement of unlicensed software with backdoors, botnets for rent…..—-In short- Penny Leavy’s declaration that “Annoymous is a criminal organization and should be treated as such” applies very well to her and her “company”. Let the indictments begin, and yes the state should disolve her articles of incorporation. And no- no real company want to talk to her or her employees.
