Netscape 8 sets record
p2pnet.net News:- AOL’s new Netscape 8 has only just come out, but it’s already set a new world record.
Having just announced the arrival of its largely unneeded and unwanted Netscape 8, AOL has published an update fixing 41 security holes.
AOL boasts the browser, based on Firefox, comes with a raft new security features, and that Netscape 8 even tells users when they’re on their way to a page AOL considers to be dangerous.
But, it didn’t include any of the security patches in Firefox 1.0.4. So in what must be the fastest update in browser history, literally hours after Netscape 8 came Netscape 8.1.
And Yes, the new ‘new’ version has the Firefox 1.0.4 security fixes.

Apparently, you’re ignorant. Perhaps you’re just another FOSS zealot who feels the need to invariably defend your favorite piece of open source software.
First of all, how does your opinion of an “unneeded” and “unwanted” browser even constitute as useful news…at all. The market is actually quite ripe for competition to IE which has shown in Firefox’s recent market gains…so another browser is actually very good news….competition will breed better products all around.
8.0 is a great browser and offering both Gecko and IE rendering engines in one browser (in a simple way) was brilliant.

A few years ago, I downloaded the overhyped Netscape 6 when it first came out – and found it to be by far the buggiest POS I had ever encountered. But then, a patched updated version was then released almost immediately afterward. Then another …

Why the fuck is Netscape suddenly using Firefox… can’t they just make their own stupid program? O_o
