Star Wars in Pakistan
p2pnet.net News:- Counterfeit copies of Revenge of the Sith, the sixth and final Star Wars episode, are now appearing on the streets of Pakistan - five days after it was released worldwide.
“Pakistan is one of the top 10 producers of pirated DVDs,” says the BBC, and, “Pakistan-wide sales are expected to be around 50,000 copies within the first two weeks,” one “leading retailer” is quoted as saying.
The post goes on, “Most new English-language movies are pirated within 48 hours of their release, they say. Indian movies, by comparison, are released in Pakistan’s pirate market three days before their legal release in Indian cinemas.
“The delay has occurred because of a recent crackdown on replication facilities in the city.”
Earlier episodes are all one $2 DVD, and, “shopkeepers say a large number of customers are buying the five-in-one DVD along with the latest release,” says the Beeb.
In the meanwhile, Sith appeared online before the scheduled release.
The leak was directly attributable to Hollywood insiders, but that didn’t stop MPAA boss Dan Glickman from blaming p2p file sharers,

The BBC report is made by a self hating Pakistani. Pakistan is not the top 5 in piracy worldwide. that status belongs to China, India, Russia,Thailand and the Phillipines. The pirated DVD’s you mentioned all come from China.
