eDonkey web pages

p2pnet.net News:- The new $19.95 eDonkey includes what it’s calling an “awesome” new feature dubbed Catalogs that lets users publish content on the donkey network without a web server.

With it , “no more hassle of websites going down,” it promises.

Catalogs allow users to browse through verified files without worrying about downloading the wrong thing, says the eDonkey site, going on:

“Publishers can create catalogs of their content and publish it on the donkey network. Catalogs are just normal web pages that have been digitally signed by the publisher to assure authenticity.”

Catalogs is also available on the free eDonkey, as a p2pnet reader points out below.

ti has potential, it is about time someone thought of a way of using p2p to decentralise webpages , hope they intergrate it into emule but better as edonkey is limited.

Disclaimer: I don’t mean to start a war here, as anti-Shareaza zealots did with the article about Shareaza’s newsletters, so please don’t.

This sounds similar to what Shareaza has been doing for quite a while. In fact, I think Shareaza was the first to implement such a feature even before the 2.0 release just over a year ago. Shareaza calls it ‘collections.’

It can be a great feature and has great potential as a way of producing a collection of links in a webpage, or set of pages, distributed over a decentralised network. They can also be used to include tracklistings and cover art for albums and DVDs in the collection itself.
