Elite Torrents takedown genuine

p2pnet.net News:- Homeland Security, the FBI’s Cyber Division and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, “today the first criminal enforcement action targeting individuals committing copyright infringement on peer-to-peer (P2P) networks using cutting edge file-sharing technology known as BitTorrent”.

Acting as inspiration was the movie cartel’s MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America).

“This morning, agents of the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executed 10 search warrants across the United States against leading members of a technologically sophisticated P2P network known as Elite Torrents,” says a statement.

“Employing technology known as BitTorrent, the Elite Torrents network attracted more than 133,000 members and, in the last four months, allegedly facilitated the illegal distribution of more than 17,800 titles - including movies and software - which were downloaded 2.1 million times.

“In addition to executing 10 warrants, federal agents also took control of the main server that coordinated all file-sharing activity on the Elite Torrents network.”

Parroting the tired MPAA and RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) ‘hard-pressed workers’ line, “When thieves steal this data, they are taking jobs away from hard workers in industry, which adversely impacts the U.S. economy,” said the FBI’s Louis M. Reigel.

Ironically, the statement specifically says the final entry in the Star Wars series, Episode III -Revenge of the Sith, was, “available for downloading on the network more than six hours before it was first shown in theatres” and in the next 24 hours, “was downloaded more than 10,000 times”.

In fact, the file was a print copy available only to Hollywood insiders.

Nonetheless, “Federal authorities on Wednesday shut down an online file-sharing network that had the new Stars War movie before it was shown in theaters,” says CNN, faithfully following Hollywood dictated media doctine.

Sith grossed $158.5 million from Thursday to Sunday and was as online ticket seller Fandango Inc’s top movie for opening weekend sales. The first two days of the movie’s release, Thursday and Friday, were Fandango’s top selling 48 hours.

“Operation D-Elite is being conducted jointly by ICE and the FBI as part of the Computer And Technology Crime High Tech Response Team (”CATCH”), a San Diego task force of specially trained prosecutors and law enforcement officers who focus on high-tech crime. Federal and state member agencies of CATCH include ICE, the FBI, the Department of Justice, the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, San Diego Police Department, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, and San Diego County Probation,” says the statement.

“Operation D-Elite was coordinated and will be prosecuted by the Justice Department’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, with the assistance and support of Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (CHIP) coordinators in San Diego and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices in Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

“The Motion Picture Association of America provided valuable assistance to the investigation.”

    It’s on CNN..

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Well, it was fairly obvious something like this would happen sooner or later.

  4. Reader's Write Says:

Yes it was, but is also obvious that the technoloy was already adapting to it before it came. Soon no government will be able to do a thing against sharing. Not even the all powerfull american corporative government.

  5. Reader's Write Says:

it can always restrict more and more your rights (making P2P illegal, thinking about doing P2P illegal etc etc, dont laugh, it’s coming)

  6. Reader's Write Says:

I’m surprised p2pnet didnt title this story “Helpless and Innocent BitTorrent Operators Victim of MPAA Shut down….”

  7. Reader's Write Says:

Not only that it sucks but that ET probably recorded IPs! so meaning they will go after anyone who used the site!!!

  8. Reader's Write Says:

As if they’re going to be able to stop people. It’s all temporary until the next method comes up.

The permanent solution is to lower prices on CDs, movie tickets, DVD etc across the board by about 75%.

Maybe, MAYBE, then I’ll start paying.

  9. Reader's Write Says:

thank the mighty Lord above that we’re going after evildoers and fighting the good fight….i know i’ll sleep better tonight knowing that terrorists were eradicated….those purveyors of copies of Star War Ep 3, and others engaging in (gasp!) file-sharing! I knew there was a reason that Homeland Security was formed in the great nation of America…there’s profit being lost as we type this!

This is double-plus-good. Smile and be healthful everyone, enjoy your clean air and fresh water, and pretend you’re free. :-)

…and the spinnnnnn, goes round and round.

the founding fathers of the US once said that approx every 20 years there will have to be an uprising to displace the government and what they subjugate their people to through complacency, abuse, propaganda and manipulation…all the while placing themselves above and beyond the reproach of the laws and moral hypocrisy which they embody - according to history this uprising is well over 200 years overdue….

NOTE: I am not advocating treason, violent dissent or terrorism in any way, I think of myself and others as being more enlightened than the republicans and Bush and the methods they condemn, yet employ on a daily basis. There ar eother ways to enact change Mr.Bush then the heavy hand of violence under the guise of a religous crusade.

alright, I’m stepping down from my soapbox now ;)

    Thank you.

Millions of Illegal aliens are streaming across the border every year and our goverment does next to nothing about it BUT thank god the INS has the man power to devote to hunting down those EVIL PIRATES who are sharing movies!!!!! Boy this country is really getting screwed up!!!! Homeland security????? Who you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Reader's Write Says:

They phucked up when they stopped using an ip filter in the webpage…

  13. Reader's Write Says:

I dont mean to get off topic, but when did the US change from what it used to be to this? I dont get it. Well, it seems a good percentage of the country is going to be hunted down by its own government (apparently by corporate sponsor). This isnt the america I know anymore.

Anyone download the media release video http://www.ice.gov/graphics/news/multimedia/clip0035.avi and notice that you can see the bastard agents username?

P2P = Peer To Peer, it is a totally legal network and used within business organisations, there is no way it’ll be ruled illegal.

  18. Reader's Write Says:

Several years ago I filed a complaint with the FBI after a New York based music publisher stole our songs, in the hundreds, in plain sight. The offending publisher went so far as registering many songs as their own at the Copyright Office, where the copyright registrations are ubchanged todat. The full story of the thoroughly documented theft can be found here: http://www.gvenegas.com .

The FBI told me they had no time for our case because they were too busy with terrorism. I went to the local Police and they also ignored us.

It is all now clear: The FBI and the courts only protect the copyright cartels and damm the artists and their decendants (Iam a decendant of a composer whose songs were stolen and infringed).

This very week American government officials have submitted requested written depositions in congress hearings (”Piracy of Intellectual Property” at “http://judiciary.senate.gov/hearing.cfm?id=1514) about the alleged and partly real piracy problem in foreign countries and how little respect there is for copyrights abroad and about all the efforts being made to get these big piracy countries to enforce their own laws, which allegedly (and mostly really) are nothing more than uneforced paper laws written to satisfy foreing coubtries to avoid trade sanctions.

Americans just want their fuzzy laws enforced against those that cannot understand those laws, the common person, the university students, the downloaders, the digital copiers, the foreigners, but to ignore infringement and plain theft of rights when done on a big scale, in plain sight, by American music publishers and by record companies or by foreigners that come and go to the USA as they please.

This is hypocrisy at its peak.

We have sued Sony for making over 15 records with our music without a license. Where is the FBI here? Nowhere. Meanwhile the records continued to be distributed afyer our lawsuit was filed 4 years ago. The court has decided nothing yet about this case.

We have also sued Sonolux, a big record compny from Colombia (with a Florida operation that was shut down after our lawsuit) owned by Carlos Ardila Lülle and his privately owned company (Organización Ardila Lülle) for also making many records with our songs in the USA. We won the lawsuit on defaul (Sonolux did not answer the lawsuit) by but now Organización Ardila Lülle claims it has no money in the USA to pay the damages, after taking all their money back to Colombia. In Columbia they even own a bank, the main television stations and many other industries. Organización Ardila Lülle is huge. See their web site here: http://www.postobon.com/PostobonSA/organizacion/organizacion.asp

Organización Ardila Lülle earns about $250 million in profits per year.

Meanwhile, the owners, a billionaire familily that is among the wealthiest in South America travels to and from the USA freely, where they have residenses. Where is the FBI? Where is immigration? Why did the judge not refer the case to the FBI?

Of course, I got the message from the FBI and may not go back there. I, apparently, deserve no protection as is given to the copyright cartels.

It is all a sham, where the government acts and speaks differently, depending on the audience or the requesters. What a sham of democracy!

I wonder, maybe we have to acuse all these crooks of being involved with downloading, the current FBI obsession, for the FBI to take notice?

no problem, it is actually a camcorded video (by students) of his talk at a University in California and not a commercial production - so no IP infringment involved.

this really sux, i was a member of elite torrents and it was best thing that i had experienced on the internet. no filesharing site could get me speeds of 300 kb/s like elite torrents. I am gonna really miss that site. I wish there was a way of helping out the the leading memebers that made the site like sending the donations for a lawyer or something. Because if everyone sent in like 10 bux the 133 000 members of that site could really help those guys out.

  21. Reader's Write Says:

even if they recorded ip’s, here in canada a judge just yesterday said that it is unconstitutional in canada for the rcaa to subpoena internet service providers to give the names of its customers. In canada this was an ongoing battle between ISP’s and the RCAA, i wish they had the same laws in the united states but over there the record companies and film companies have a lot of political influence

  22. Reader's Write Says:

I noticed that the article states that the Department of “Homeland Security” was involved in the raids. Since when has file sharing become an act of terrorism? This is just another program used by the government of the P.S.A. to erode our Constitutional Rights. What or who is going to be the next great enemy that will be used to take away liberties (remember 1st it was poverty, then it was drugs, and now it is “terrorism”). Every new agency created has been used to exert even more control over us.

These agencies that have been created to “protect us” are the ones persecuting men women and children for sharing bits and bytes. Look at the record profits raked in by the movie cartel from “Revenge of The Sith.” And they still think filesharing is causing lost sales. I think not. I believe that this war against computer users is just another method of instilling more fear and control over the sheeple. I am more concernered of the enemy within than I am with the enemy outside. The enemy within is closer and know more about what “we the people” are doing

It is time for Americans to rise up in unison and forcefuly demand the disbanding of the Gestapo-type agency. By the way, terrorism is not an enemy. It is a TACTIC used by an enemy. Has anyone ever given though as to why so many people (including non-Muslims) hate the P.S.A? Could it be that the same cartels that strongly influence our government also use our government to prop up repressive regimes?
Or is it because all people who hate America are evil devils like the so called “conservatives” would like for us to believe?

Recently a story was published on Drudgereport.com about an oil pipeline causing turmoil in the central Asian countries. I would like to quote the article, but it has disappeared. How many people in the P.S.A. are sick and tired of being treated as merchandise, labelled, tagged, and stamped at the whim of any corporate or government agency. I KNOW I AM!!!!!!

In America, if we want national security, we need to first MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS and then protect our borders against the unregulated flow of immigrants and goods. We also need train our own citizens on how to prepare for, prevent, and defend against attacks on this country, The people have a responsibility for the defense of the area in which they live. It is time for them to exercise it. The Minutemen militia excercised their responsibility to protect the border against drug runners, terrorists, and such.

Is it time for the people of the Police States of America to begin a general strike? Several general strikes were the beginning of what brought down the repressive governments of Eastern Europe. I do know it is time to get rid of the “Lessor of Two Evils” voting strategy practiced by American voters. I think that this would be the only way to force the government back into compliance with the Constitution.

its also the trailer playing not the real movie

  24. Reader's Write Says:

I had the though of going to the theater to watch “Revenge of The Sith,” but now, I will not. Hey Hollywood, you just lost another sale due to the persecution of file sharers. If I want to see the movie badly enoth, I will either download it or copy a DVD from someone else. Paying is no longer an option I choose.

You’ve hit the nail on the head really.

They are interested in building their own empire.

From controlling people sharing, to invading other countries on false pretences of WMD.

It’s propganda and reactionary heaven over there in the US of A.

Pity it’s just the normal people that suffer, while the instigators at the top get away with it all. Kids n stuff getting sued by multi-million, or even billion dollar companies. How sad.

They can stop the torture in Abu Ghareb, Guantanamo bay … if they actually want to. But they might not get the answers they are looking for, even if the answers are just the answers they want to hear to further their “ideals” and not the truth.

Is democracy broke? Has it let some people and companies to become too powerful?

The poeple always ranting on about how bad communinsm is because of the pigs in “Animal Farm” had all the power and control.

Surely capitalism is the same. It’s just theyre not pigs - they’re pigopolists.

Why is “RTJKJAS” at the bottom of the http://elitetorrents.org/ page?? what does that mean? some kind of tag? hacker mark? wtf is it?

And look at the terrible source code of that page…. o.o omg, my eyes burn from looking at that.
There is sooo much junk in it… and it looks like they programed it in Word! XD

The only stuff I’m ever going to spend my money on is peolpe who aren’t under the cover of the psyco “sue your customers” empire.

I used to buy quite a bit of stuff, but after all this, I think that spending money to help them sue kids and teachers is bull. That’s not freedom, it’s damn repression. If you can read this you thieveing scum pigopolists you can go swivel …

I can’t even smoke in my local cinema, but they can drive their big assed SUV’s in my face, belching out all that pollution, being a danger to others who have normal cars, or bikes, or even push bikes.

And they’re calling people who “share” criminals.

Seems like they WANT to drive me away.

So, here’s one person you had the opposite effect on, idiots.

    Viva la revolution :)

i never noticed that, is there anyone out there who knows absolutely that elitetorrents was shut down by the government and not a hacker. secondly i cant stand that BS that the MPAA says that they lost 3 point something billion dollars last year due to piracy. they just dont understand that if those free copies werent availible on the internet all those people that downloaded it probably werent gonna buy it. I know i wouldnt.

  30. Reader's Write Says:

things like this make me wonder whether the us government formed homeland secuirity to protect the people of the homeland or the corporations. there are millions of illegal immigrants in the united states but they help business so we cant send them out even though they are breaking real laws at the cost of the jobs of US citizens. You ever hear those clowns from the movie industry talking about downloading movies taking away jobs from the industry, how many people here work or have worked in the movie industry and how many people have worked in a restaurant where cause of the illegal immigrants from mexico they cant earn more than 5 bux an hour. lets see them do something about that. a simple case of americas corporate government getting greedier.

  31. Reader's Write Says:

    well said

  32. Reader's Write Says:

i always thought it funny how they refer to america as the “American Empire” in ghost in the shell…

    how appropriate!

  33. Reader's Write Says:

I too refuse to pay. I am tired of feeling like I am at the end of a gun from the time I get through the line to buy a ticket, get concessions, and be herded like sheep into the proper viewing area to be bombarded by commercials that I didn’t want on my money. I don’t want to hear the wo/man’s (that was too cheap to hire a sitter) kids interupt my viewing out of shear inconsideration for others. I don’t want to set into dried coke on the floor nor be hit in the head by paper cups by some kid that the parents don’t understand their duty to their childen and what it consists of.

I refuse to finance corporate terrorism on others. Face it, the RIAA and MPAA have an image problem. Just as I will not be the solution to a clerk that can’t pay attention to their job resulting in “prepay” at the gas pump, I will not be the solution to these folks image problem either. I don’t buy gas at prepay pumps and I dang sure won’t pay for a ticket. It is my money and a vote for what I believe in. I don’t believe in this organizations nor the companies they represent. The new Star Wars film is making records and breaking records and so they can not support the idea that it is d/lers that is at the heart of the problem, nay it is the business model. That model is threatened because they can not compete with the old model and they feel the solution is to both eliminate the competion and control the viewing enviorment. This as much as anything is turning many folks away from those industries and I am one it has done so to!

  34. Reader's Write Says:

well you wont be paying 4 anything when your in prison. Then, I know youll either pay or find another interest, garaunteed, lol.

  35. Reader's Write Says:

    Agreed…

nice, matey. Sometimes us monkeys don’t think we can make a diff. anymore, and that change, evolution/revolution, and other good vibes of their ilk are just t-shirts and bumperstickers and culture that’s snatched up and packaged and presented to be bought and sold and etc etc yadda yadda…ultimately, tho, ‘it doesn’t change a thing, what can one person do,’ more et ceteras, etc.

well, one person (YOU) can do a lot. even if your little bubble, sphere of influence only affects you, not a single other thing, biz, person, environment - that’s something. each person who pauses and stands up, walks away from, doesn’t spend money on/at, yells, raises a fist, and/or any other form of criticism that’s aimed towards the wrinkly, charred, hurts-the-soul and kills-the-fire-within-us thinking and actions that are the lifeblood of most corporate-driven guv’mint/big-box retail/industries…every single little action that does something concrete and not only says WTF? but does something about it…makes a difference. those little ripples in the pond that go out when you throw a rock in get bigger and bigger. nil desperandum. ;-)

    100% agreement..

according to <the insider> starwars episode 3 had a production cost of $113,000,000 (someone got a nice bonus)..

113 million dollars to create, WTF! supposing this $133m is the total cost of the movie, including all wages, complete dvd production of a few hundred thousand units, etc.

Now take the movie box office gross for the 1st 3 days (thur-sat)..

124,700,000 covered TOTAL production cost in first 3 days..
    -113,000,000
    ————
    11,700,000

Thats 11 million dollars gross profit soo far. not including dvd sales, licensing to pay tv networks, public tv networks etc.
and these BASTARDS have the gaul to complain about losing money…

  43. Reader's Write Says:

    they deserved it!
i mean common, how dare the working class people get free stuff from the rich? that just isn’t right… i mean what kind of world do we live in if the rich can’t step all over the poor and get richer?
star wars only made $347 million in a few days… how is George gonna feed his kids with that? poor guy :(

bloody corporate america… they’re such ****(insert your favorite word), every comment i read on ET of people downloading star wars said they were gonna watch it in the theatre’s anyway (because it’ll be so much better then on tv) they just didn’t want to wait in line, or wait a week to see it.. now i hope they will not go watch it in the theatre’s at all.

they say they lose however much billion a year.. they think everyone that downloads would watch and pay if they didn’t DL?.. that’s a joke… if hollywood has been losing money lately it’s because they put out such garbage (pg13 horror movies anyone?) movies. people will pay to watch good movies. (evident with star wars)
star wars is doing quite well, so it just goes to show how greedy these bastards are…
i’m done with movies (even DVD’s) i’ll download from other sites still active (they’ll never get em all) or just wait till they come out on tv. the motion picture industry isn’t getting even 1 more penny from this poor lad.
and i hope they get the same treatment from you.

  44. Reader's Write Says:

Has anyone ever thought to trace downloads through BT to see how many “conservative” people download illegally. I think we would all be suprised to know how many GOP children and family members download. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that Bush’s own daughters have downloaded files in their college years. Or what about the family members of movie production employees. Downloaders are not just quiet nerds or passionate rebels. There are far too many buttoned-down people I know who download like fiends. I want everyone in america to realize how many people are downloading and who those people are in contrast with who is being prosecuted.

    “”Hey guys,
If you’re a regular visitor, you should know that we’re not fans of letting persons donate to the site. However, we’re in a bit of a mix. We have just moved server’s after our previous host cutt us off! We are now located in sweden and it should be alot safer here from the MPAA and alike.”"

  48. Reader's Write Says:

    hmmm….I’m really confused.

If the industry is so badly hurt from the downloading then how is it that there are still ticket sales records being broken?

and why arent they putting ALL resources towards hunting down child pornographers…i.e the REAL threats to society!!!!

Yeah but they’ll make computers with DRM built in the hardware that communicates to a server. If you try to play a digital file with certain hashcode in it, or with a certain filename, the computer won’t let you.’

Don’t laugh, this is coming too, or at least, they’re trying. Intel is already making chips with DRM built in. Not as drastic as the example above, but that’s the plan of many greedy sons of bitches in this country. They wanna control your computer and everything you do and watch.
