RIAA sues another 649
p2pnet.net Feature:- The Big Four record label cartel’s RIAA has broken the 11,000 barrier.
EMI, Sony BMG, UMG and Warner today lodged suits against 649 alleged file sharers and singled out an additional 91 students at 33 schools for special attention, claiming they’re using i2hub on Internet2 to share music with each other.
This brings the total number of people now being victimized as part of the industry’s sue ‘em all marketing and sales campaign to 11,046
”As long as students continue to corrupt this specialized academic network for the flagrant theft of music, we will continue to make it clear that there are consequences for these unlawful actions,” says RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) president Cary Sherman.
Internet2 is increasingly the network of choice for students, “seeking to steal copyrighted songs and other works on a massive scale,” he states disingenuously failing to mention that no theft is involved, no sales are lost, no money changes hands and that file sharing is still very much on the increase.
Nor have any of the 11,046 targets - including children as young as 12 - yet been found guilty of anything.
The schools affected are:
- Boston University
- Brandeis University
- Brown University
- Columbia University
- DePaul University
- Drexel University
- Georgia Institute of Technology
- Harvard University
- Indiana University
- Lehigh University
- New York University
- Princeton University
- Rice University, Rochester Institute of Technology
- Saint Louis University
- State University of New York – Binghamton
- State University of New York – Buffalo
- Ohio State University
- Tufts University
- Tulane University
- University of California – Berkeley

- University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign
- University of Massachusetts – Amherst
- University of Missouri –Rolla
- University of Nebraska – Lincoln
- University of New Hampshire
- University of Southern California
- University of Toledo and Wake Forest University.
It’s been quite a while since Penn State, the first US university to sign up to the Big Music Campus Sales program, has been featured by the RIAA.

Just out of curiosity, how and why does the RIAA have access to Internet2? Have the recently gone into the higher education business?

If you are unfortunate enough to get sued, an appropriate settlement offer would be $5.00 per month as that’s what Yahoo is charging for access to their massive catalog of music which I believe encompasses the catalogs of all of the RIAA patrons.

Ah! but you forget, my friend, that Yahoo is only renting. If you download a tune (so called legally) it will have DRM attached. If it has DRM attached it’s like having spyware or a virus attached. The (the RIAA) is in control with DRM. Without DRM, the RIAA is no longer in control.

Sadly friend, the RIAA probably owns over 60% of the music you think is purely independent through their purchase of many “independent” labels.
Independent label starts up > signs bands > bands do well > label does well > RIAA cartel offers piles of money to buy the label and the copyrights it owns > independent label sells out to them > RIAA now owns the label and you’re none the wiser > your favourite music is under the control of the RIAA

Hey cartels, it sounds like suicide to make all those future work force members who will have access to all kinds of data into your enemies.
I will make a quote from one of my favorite movies, “Fight Club,”
“Look. The people you are after are the people you depend on. We cook your meals. We haul your trash. We connect your calls, we drive your ambulances. We guard you while you sleep. Do not fuck with us.”

Well that is where the future politions are made. It is also the place where you will find the Skull and Bones Society. George Bush, John Kerry, many Supreme Court “Justices,” and other high ranking cartel members are member of this organization. Remember, sharks do not eat their own.

Does Anyone wonder how the people in power came to this?? Bush, the puppet of the corporations, smoked pot when he was younger. He and Rice and others in the US government grew up in the days of the “hippie”. At what point did they lose sight of the reasons why that generation acted the way they did (oppression, tyranny, racism, facism)? And what gives them the power to create fear in others their age in order to retain power and further their own agendas?? The GOP has been known for years as the party that was against repression of personal rights, of less government control, of personal freedoms. Well, Bush can privatize social security to make the sheeple feel that they still have personal freedom, but he certainly won’t tell anyone how he has fostered politics that would track Americans, that would give an agency the right to arrest and detain “foriegn-looking” people (Homeland Security *laughs*).
Wait, nevermind, the american voters put him in power. Well, at least this term they did…..

People of the likes of Bush are the defacto nobles of the 21st century. He comes from a line of old money and most likely elite “prep schools.” I hear about many in the democratic side of the Democrat-Republican party talk about how dumb he is. I do not believe for a minute that Bush is dumb!
I do believe that he has no idea what the average working person has to do in order to make ends meet. How could he? Bush’s main problem is that he is an elitist. The likes of him think of the average person as a human resource ripe for their use. This attitude is not just present with the President, it is also present with congress, judges, and corporate executives. In order for the average people to be once again though of men, women and children, they have to stop supporting these elitist thugs.
Not buying music, movies, and software is one way to do this. Another way is to setup FreeWan (or local WIFI networks), sneakernets, and other methods of relaying information without using the cartel or government controlled infrastructure. Another way that may seem strange to many, is to start planting food producing trees, bushes and shrubs (Use native plants). When Americans start controlling their own food supply again, Americans will be less dependent on the cartels.
It is coming to a point where the U.S. will be as controlled a country as East Germany, Soviet Russia, or Red (fascist) China. Unfortunately, the elitists not only control the P.S.A. (Police States of America), they also control the governments and industries of many other nations. People in these nations should plant as many native food generating plants as possible. If and when we are able to provide for our basic food and water needs, we will be better equipped if we come to blows with the governments.
As far as putting Bush in power, I did not vote for him nor his twin (policy wise) - John Kerry. But, unfortunately, most of my fellow Americans are stuck in this “Lessor of Two Evils” mindset. They actually still believe that there are major differences between the Democrats and Republicans. I had a bumper sticker printed that said, “If you vote for Bush, you are just voting for the policies of Kerry.” Needless to say, this pissed off quite a few in the mainstream political party (Democrat-Republican). As long as Americans continue to vote for thees bozos, thing will only continue to get worse.
Any American who reads this should tell their frieds about the alternative parties such as the Libertarian, Constitution, Green, and Reform parties. The mainstream party (Democrat-Republican) has long ago sold itself to the highest bidder.
