Fabric (literally) keyboard

p2pnet.net News:- Close to this time last year, we told you about a jacket with an mp3 player controlled by buttons on the sleeve – not to mention a hands-free cell phone microphone tucked into the collar.

Behind the the technology was Britain’s ElekTex which has now come up with a full, laptop-size fabric keyboard with Bluetooth connectivity for smart-phones and hand-helds.

With a water-repellent finish, the plastic electronics housing has an embedded LED to show status, Bluetooth pairing and typing activity.

When you’ve finished, just fold it up and stick it in your pocket.

More to come …

Wearable computers, well guess we knew it was coming. Seems to me this could be both a godsend and your worse enemy. How long till Homeland Security wants to know not only what you are doing with your computer but where you are at the same time?

While I think this would be fantasic for recreation, I wonder just how much hassel this could be turned into in a work situtation? Already many jobs can’t be done without the worker walking around with a cell phone as part of the job. In my opinion an unnecessary hinderence. Nothing like trying to get to some location and have the phone ringing off the hook while you are trying to neogatiate a trip to the job site.

For my part, I think I will pass on this.
