AMD criticizes Intel dual-core
p2pnet.net News:- Intel may have been the first to launch dual-core chips for desktop PCs, but Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) senior vp Henri Richard believes a real dual-core processor should be one that integrates two cores onto the same die.
Against that, Chipzilla’s dual-core processors comprise separate cores in individual dies packaged together using multi-chip packaging in a single chip, “which is not a true dual-core solution, “ Korea’s DigiTimes has Richard saying.
On rumors that AMD plans to start producing chipsets, Richard said the company won’t enter the market because it has good relationships with major chipset makers.
“He also criticized Intel’s strategies of bundling its products (CPU, chipset and WLAN module) into a single platform,” says DigiTimes..
