"Your kidding right? Get the hell out of here, the US invaded a country for no reason other than to secure it oil interests. Do you think that is something to be applauded by the world?"

So how much extra oil has the US gained, and through what channels is it reaching the US?

Oh wait, that's right. The oil was streaming into the UN (and Annan's pockets) before the war, and now? Well? Guess what, it's in the ground under Iraq, waiting for the Iraqis to use it. Prove me wrong.

"There's nothing really wrong with liking your country if you believe it is a place that does good to people regardless of the nationality (do you think that is the case for the US?)."

I believe the US does do good regardless of nationality. One example occured during the later half of the 20th century, when the US provided material aid to North Korean citizens, despite knowing that the N.K. Government was re-packing the supplies to hide their true (US) source.

Another example is the US's aid in the recent Tsunami disasters. Who donated the most government-sponsored aid? The US. Who provided the most private aid? The US citizenry.

"However, loving your country is a step to far towards nationalism (I don't love my country but I like it). What good did that ever do?"

So, what's wrong with nationalism? Simply put, America's done more for me than any other country has. Do you think I'm a moron for appreciating that? Well, I'd rather be a moron than an ingrate!

What good? That's a laugh. Make a list of your favorite countries, then make a list of how many there are that wouldn't exist if they hadn't, at some point in their history, taken a stand to prevent losing their identity to a union.

Or just look at classic examples of what happens when nations try merging with other nations. The one that comes to mind first is the USSR. Another would be Ancient Greece, but they get kudos for lasting a long, long time.

By the way, your comparison between the current war in Iraq and World War II isn't very accurate. The US's only gain from this war is security via detention/killing of known supporters of anti-American forces such as the Taliban. The Nazi party, on the other hand, actively waged a war for increased farmland, and actively persecuted the innocent Jews.

"As for God-fearing, yikes, if there's one thing scarier than nationalism it's religion. Particularly when the people of the religion have a fear of something when there is absolutely no evidence for its existance."

I guess you don't read warnings:
"We delete anything that's obscene or denigrates gender or religion."

Oh well, I doubt the powers that be will enforce it anyways.

And finally:
"Please keep your god-fearing, country-loving ideas to yourself so that rational people can try to fix the things that people like you fckd up."

I'll have to respectfully decline your request. I believe in my right to freedom of speech, and I choose to excercise it at this moment.

Yeah... Freedom of speech... Something Saddam didn't allow to his subjects...

I just wish people would consider what they're saying a bit more carefully ahead of time. If people want to bash Bush, they may -- but they should stop to think about how much factual basis they have first, otherwise it's all too easy to join a vocal minority in a chorus of irrational opinions.

This leads me to a question... What do any of you have against the war in Iraq?

Oh well...

By the way, I'm not a neo-con... Neo-cons are just liberals who are affiliated with the conservatives, in my opinion.

I like to think of myself as a God-fearing, home-loving American citizen who'll pick any candidate who serves for the greater good, regardless of personal gain (financial, political, or otherwise)... Oh yeah, forgot to mention... Holy Smokes! The Liberals have people everywhere! ;) (Sorry, just had to do it...)

Ok guys, this article was about a spam email... NOT about the war in Iraq, and President Bush's (also slanderously refered to as "Gee Dubya", and a few other less-than-respectful names) policies.

If you wanna bash Bush, tag it onto an article about him.

That being said -- I don't agree with people's off-topic responses. The war on Iraq, in my opinion, is fine. The UN's job was to keep Saddam Hussein in check. They chose to do this through sanctions which, as it turns out, were pretty well useless. Not to mention Kofi Annan's scandalous behavior.

When the UN failed, the US stepped in and did the job right.

Sadly, by the time the US-led coalition ousted Saddam and his murderous regime, over 300,000 Iraqi citizens were dead at Saddam's hands. Interestingly enough, many of them were killed with chemical weapons which Saddam "never had".

Then there's the issue of taxation. I agree that alot of taxes aren't quite appropriate, and I'm don't support the increase of taxes.

Our government is too big, therefore it spends too much. Imagine the money in our pockets if we had fewer services to promote racism (Affirmative action ("minorities are inferior")), elitism ("I had $10 million laying around to throw at a political campaign, but I still need a six-figure salary to feed my family"), and lack of responsability (I don't have to care about saving for retirement; everyone else can do it for me through social security) (I don't need protection, the state can pay to kill my baby if there's a pregnancy)...

I don't mind my money going to avenging massacred Iraqi citizens, ousting murderous dictatorial regimes, and eliminating the threat posed by extremist Islam (the kind where not believing in Allah leads to planes flying into buildings -- not to be mistaken with the kind where you praise Allah and live in peace).

Oh, sorry. Did I go entirely off-topic too? Here we go...

I wonder why anyone would make a virus anyways. If ya want a feeling of grand accomplishment, do something decent and honorable, ya know? Build a monument or something... Don't trash innocent peoples' computers.

Income tax is illegal. YES IT IS. But not paying it brings armed thugs to steal your property.

If you get a traffic ticket, you are guilty no matter what evidence you show. That is the so called "justice" system in the Police States of America. All of those who wish to come to America, come on in if you just want to make more money. But do not expect to be free. We lost our freedom years ago. "Elected" dictators sit in their plush office bossing the brainwashed robots around why they continue with their cowardly acts. The polititions and judges cower behind fences and their police forces. They are nothing more than bullies.

If I could find a freer country that would allow me to emigrate, I would have left this place years ago. I love these united states, but I see no hope for it. It is a country that is dying. It is a country filled with millions of brainwashed robots who are not willing to lift a finger to regain their freedom.

Capital idea my friend! The war on terrorism will just turn out to be the same white elephant as the war on drugs has proven to be. Billions upon billions of dollars spent on fighting a war which cannot be won. Indeed, Gee Dubya would rather things stay just as they are. He's got himself a nice little cache of reasons to keep the populace in a heightened sense of fear and panic. It is through fear that consumers will sub-conciously or even with actual fore-thought, go out and buy more stuff, even when they have all they need at home. More reasons to increase various taxes or fuel prices, etc. If people complain he can just tell them,
"well this war on [fill in blank] is proving to be an expensive one (natch), so we've gotta raise more funds by basically stealing it from you guys... That's cool though, yeah? I mean we've been doing it since, like, forever. C'mon guys, you're still paying income tax after all these years. Not one of you has realised it's a farce and quite probably illegal. C'mmmmon, cough up...".
Or words to that effect anyway.
