MP3 WMA Land, 2005
p2pnet.net News:- It’s a slap in the face for the industry and a slap on the wrist for the defendants, said Australian music expert Phil Tripp, last year, when three students who ran the MP3 WMA Land p2p file-sharing site received suspended sentences.
Sydney students Tommy Le, 21, Peter Tran, 20, and Charles Ng, 20, pleaded guilty to supplying and distributing unlawful copies of copyrighted music via the site, and now an 18-year-old Melbourne man has also been charged with copyright infringement in the same case.
“The man faces five counts of distributing an infringing copy of a work, and 14 counts of aiding and abetting the distribution of an infringing copy of a work,” says Australian IT, adding:
“The Melbourne man – who was 16 when the offences were alleged to have occurred – was charged on summons in February and appeared in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on May 19. He will appear again for a mention on June 16.”
