Korea to rate ‘violent’ video
p2pnet.net News:- Starting next month, Korea will rate violent video clips posted online as part of efforts to crack down on violence.
Cell phones will also be subject to rating, says the Korea Times.
Targeted are the nation’s four major types of violence, it says: school gang violence, organized crime, online privacy infringement and libel.
“The government will revise related laws through public hearings so that the authorities can set detailed prior screening standards to tighten the monitoring of online violent video clips and ask broadcasters to reduce scenes depicting violent acts,” says the story, going on:
“The government will also legislate a law that places online video clips in the category of offline video so that online video clips must be rated before circulation.”
Korea is considering tackling online privacy infringement by making Net users disclose their real names and, "The Information and Communication Ministry plans to research the issue and hold public hearings on it,” adds the Korea Times.
