New Equifax data breach
p2pnet.net News:- Confidential credit files of about 600 Canadian Equifax customers have been raided, says the credit agency, which recently admitted improperly faxing confidential client data to another user.
Equifax also admitted in March last year that credit reports detailing 1,400 consumers had been “accessed by criminals posing as legitimate credit grantors”.
“Our primary focus is to protect the innocent consumers affected by this incident,” it promised at the time.
This latest breach, "resulted from what appears to be improper use of the access codes and passwords of one of Equifax’s customers, the company said in a statement,” says CNET News.
“Most of the affected people are in British Columbia, and all have been contacted and offered a one-year subscription to a credit monitoring service, Equifax said.”
Equifax Canada is a subsidiary of the Atlanta, Georgia, Equifax operation.
