These are the words of a love song. You’ll find them, with the score, here. Theoretically, you should also be able to download the song – Boléro – but it didn’t work for us.

What’s so special about the song and the site?

They’re both from Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihanouk and according to media reports, his majesty’s popularity has surged since he began posting his “inimitable daily commentaries on events shaking his Kafka-esque kingdom last year”.

The words come in an AFP story here, the photo is from the site and even if you can’t hear the music there, if you have RealAudio, you can check it out here. It’s another a site dedicated to Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk Varman whom it describes as, “a very talented” film producer, director and musician “who happens to be King”.

The site has become the favoured communication tool of the king, who says he devotes two hours per day writing his letters “in the style of a modest journalist,” says AFP.

“The ageing king, who reigns but does not govern, has found on the Internet an effective way of expressing his feelings about political life and putting his messages across.”
