Longhorn to have RSS support

p2pnet.net News:- Microsoft will join other Net enterprises by supporting RSS in Longhorn, its upcoming, but ultra-tardy, Windows operating system.

Bill and the Boyz also say Simple List Extensions, used to allow sites to publish lists as RSS feeds, will be go out under a Creative Commons license, the same as the RSS 2.0 specification.

A music site using Simple List Extensions, “will be able to deliver a daily top-10 tracks list to help drive increased sales – something that is difficult to do today and requires significant work for both content providers and RSS solutions,” says Microsoft.

Assuming, that is, I want a “daily top-10 tracks list” on my desktop.

    Which I don’t.

Not sure how more clutter makes using my machine more effective. I guess that’s why I’m a simple lab tech and not a software eng-gin-neer.

still no reason to buy a drm infested OS ,might appeal to morons and AOL users as they will market it as the second coming best ,thing since sliced bread etc when in fact it is a steaming pile of crap!

Yeah I don’t really care for DRM either. =p

Thankfully I came to the decision that I didn’t want anymore microsucks crap, of which the latest offering seems to be more of the same. So about the time they were announcing Longhorn, I was downloading Linux. So far I must say I am pleasently suprised with it. I have been going through different flavors and have been mostly happy with what I have found.

To put it in the words I read the other day, “Windows is like buying a car with the hood welded shut, Linux is like buying a car with the service manual included”.

RSS is a great feature, its brilliant for the BBC news website which is where I et all of my news from – thats especially key because I sstudy politics.

However, its not going to save another crappy, buggy, OS filled with security holes. I’ll always have a copy of Windows on my machine, but I’ll also always have a copy of Linux, which I’ll almost always use.

Funny that i ran across this. I just got done watching a video over on the Channel9 site for Microsoft demonstraiting this feature. I may not exactly have as much use for this feature as others but for some people this will be a very usefull feature. This video also was demonstraiting how it works within IE7. I am a FireFox user all the way and am not going back to IE but i must say that IE7 “looks” nice and easy to use.
