where have you been? Part of the reason for all the crap coming out is it is aimed at 14 yr olds or younger … advertisings main goal is to get ‘em trained to buy our bullshit young…. course I may have paraphrased that a bit.

i think the last remake of this was “ID4″, right? and instead of a biological virus, it was a computer virus that destroyed them.

but i don’t think there will be a slowdown of remakes any time soon. it’s all they have left in lieu of original ideas. that, and making mediocre comic book stories into terrible movies.

they do remakes to attract a newer, younger, “hipper* audience who hasn’t seen the original. 2 things wrong with that: they have already seen the original on tv many times; it isn’t the younger audience who buys the bulk of movie tickets – it’s the older ones who can afford it.

and face it. a spielberg/cruise movie that cost over $100M to produce isn’t gonna be shelved.

but at least they seem to have stopped – for the moment – stealing and americanising french films.

It is readily apparent that the well is dry in the originality scene. I don’t know about you but I won’t be spending any money to see this. Really don’t care if Tom Cruise is in it or not. Of course if many of you feel the same way I do and don’t go to see this blah movie then you can get ready for Hollydud to cry yet again that pirates are the reason it isn’t doing well. To be honest with you the p2p d/l may be the only “value” its worth.

As far as I am concerned they should just lock the movie up, no one will steal it and it will be safe. They can keep their movie, I will keep my money and we should all be happy eh? Bet it don’t work out that way when it isn’t a smashing box office hit.

I think you should all boycott it – and if “Just downloading it” qualifies as a boycott, then you’re essentially supporting alot of the MPAA claims of the damage file sharing is doing.

That is the most pathetic, greedy, small minded thing I have ever heard, second only to the rants of the anti-Scientology anti Tom Cruise bigots, second only because their rant was at least not greed based, no matter how ignorant. “We do not want to be enlightened…” pretty much sums it up. I’m not a big fan of Cruise or Scientology, but both the greed of UIP and the intolerance of the “protesters” are just inexcusable.

I’m going to boycott the movie simply because UIP is being such a bunch of a-holes about it. It’s just another Hollywood remake anyway. Scientology? Hey, whatever floats yer boat (keeping in mind that my right to swing my fist ends before it hits your nose).
