The Lost Liberty Hotel
p2pnet.net News:- How’s this for supreme irony?
David Hackett Souter of Grogster v MGM fame was also one of US Supreme Court panel which recently ruled, “Cities may bulldoze people’s homes to make way for shopping malls or other private development,” as the Associated Press put it at the time.
His vote in Kelo vs. City of New London, "allows city governments to take land from one private owner and give it to another if the government will generate greater tax revenue or other economic benefits when the land is developed by the new owner,” says Freestar Media.
And here comes the punch-line..
“On Monday June 27, Logan Darrow Clements, faxed a request to Chip Meany the code enforcement officer of the Towne of Weare, New Hampshire seeking to start the application process to build a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road.
“This is the present location of Mr. Souter’s home.”
Clements, who’s ceo of Freestar Media, says the City of Weare will, “certainly gain greater tax revenue and economic benefits with a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road than allowing Mr. Souter to own the land.”
To be called "The Lost Liberty Hotel," the hotel would feature the "Just Desserts Café" and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in America.
Instead of a Gideon’s Bible each guest will receive a free copy of Ayn Rand’s novel "Atlas Shrugged."
Clements says the hotel must be built on this particular piece of land, “because it is a unique site being the home of someone largely responsible for destroying property rights for all Americans”.
Nor is this a prank, Clements promises..
"The Towne of Weare has five people on the Board of Selectmen,”: he says.
“If three of them vote to use the power of eminent domain to take this land from Mr. Souter we can begin our hotel development."
(Thanks, Matt B ; )

I call dibs on first booking on opening day!
I want the presidential suite – or judicial suite or supreme suite – or whatever they’ll call the biggest and most expensive room. I’ll take it for 7-10 nights.
it’s mine!

…and another gets his just deserts. So when can we expect the current head offices of the RIAA, MPAA, and BSA, to name a few to come up for grabs?

Hey! This one gets a taste of judgement BEFORE he dies. My hat is off to Logan Darrow Clements. A true American hero.

The museum will need a transcript of the DMCA prominently displayed. Wouldn’t it be great if that’s all the DMCA was, a museum piece…

they should do the same to all of the judges who voted for it, as well as the politicos who wanted it don.
also, make a claim for the pentagon and the white house properties. that’s good land there.

To Robert Christensen, the Weare Town Administrator and to Weare City Council,
Pls approve the “Lost Liberty Hotel”. It will be a wonderful addition to your nice town and a immense improvement for all over the present structure/present occupant. I will happily contribute to this deserving project.

so, normally he’d get a taste of justice AFTER he dies?
how, exactly, does that work?

Speaking of “presidential”… does ‘Eminent domain’ also apply to new construction(s) at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

There are many poeple who believe in an afterlife, that is how
They believe that you will be held accountable for misdeeds performed in this lifetime. Read, the Bible.

It is NEVER OK for a private home to be seized. For all those who embrace this tactic; just remmber that you are encouraging the taking of private property.
We need to fight them without becoming them!

That would draw TONS of tourism to that town! I would have never thought of visiting that town before but if this hotel is made, I will definately have to vacation and stay at leaste one night in the hotel. THINK OF THE MONEY THAT TOWN COULD BRING IN WITH SUCH A MONUMENT!!!
July 2nd, 2005 at 10:36 am
Souter will influence the local board’s vote. Come on, you think he doesn’t know everyone in power in his town? You think his friends will vote to take away his land? And even if the board isn’t his friends, money speaks, how you think this law was passed to begin with? SPECIAL FUCKING CORP INTEREST.
Unless this story makes world, national and local news headlines then its a pointless stunt.

Beauty to behold…
If Mr. Clements succeeds with the hotel, all will see the evil of changing “public use” to “public purpose”.
If Mr. Clements DOES NOT succeed with the hotel, all will see the emptiness of “equal protection under the law.”
Thomas Jefferson was right. The federal judiciary works like miners in the night to undermine our liberty.
July 3rd, 2005 at 9:18 pm
Souter may have been the marginal vote, but don’t ignore the fact that there are 4 other judges who are just as deserving of property seizure and eviction. Let us throw all the jackasses out on the street.

You’re missing the point. They get to write the rules. Those rules are supposed to apply equally to everyone. We have to figure out ways to make the rules painful enough that they don’t want to play anymore.

So let’s arrange for it to make serious headline news.

No.
It is already ‘public’ land.
