Actor ‘guides’ Supreme nominee

p2pnet.net News:- With Ahnold running things in California and an ex-actor as a former US president, George W. now has actor Fred Thompson helping to “shepherd” the yet-to-be named Supreme Court nominee through the Senate.

Thompson, who appeared this year in Law & Order: Trial by Jury and who was White House chief of staff Harry Sargent in In the Line of Fire (1993) and rear admiral Joshua Painter in The Hunt for Red October (1990), “agreed to accept the post in a telephone conversation with the president on Monday,” says CNN.

He "agreed to accept the post in a telephone conversation with the president on Monday, says the story.

Thompson, 62, retired from the senate in 2002 to "continue an acting career," says CNN, adding that he’ll "guide the nominee through the confirmation processs".

Justice Sandra Day O’Connor retired unexpectedly.

Not content with the judgement the supreme court made last week in the Grokster case, it now seems that the entertainment industry is going to aid (read as “influence”) the next person to take position on the Supreme Court Judge’s Bench.

The only thing that would suprise me now, would be if Bush was to host his own TV show when he finishes this term. I say suprised, but only because even the entertainment industry is not STUPID enough to think they could make a sellable programme with such a moron on board.

Isn’t this a sad commentary on the politics of today? The candidate elect isn’t to be an actor, s/he is to be a judge. The only reason you would want an actor or actor training is to convey info that isn’t necessarily true or a half-shade, or to influence someone to your line of thinking, not by merit of the idea but by alternate means. It is evident that with this support comes strings later on. Rare is it that those who receive such support can separate between what is and what should not be.

At this rate they can just get over the dog and pony show and just appoint the judge and be done with it. The media could make it a public viewed auction and at least it would have entertainment value. As it is now, it is the next thing to a dog and pony show and pity any with solid ideas of supporting the true nature of the constitution. You either with the good ol’ boyz or you ain’t in.

Politicians are all actors. they’re indistinguishable from Hollywood
