AOL blue-on-blue?

p2pnet.net News:- It seems AOL’s little ‘Running Man’ AIM logo might be highly appropriate.

“I picked up an AOL sign-up disk the other day while buying stamps at the post office,” writes Edward C. Baig in his Cyberspeak column in USA Today.

“It comes with a 45-day free trial and includes a pamphlet detailing AOL’s various pricing options.

“A regular month-to-month dial-up subscription plan fetches $23.90 (or $19.95 if you prepay a whole year). Premium AOL for Broadband plans start at $14.95 a month, on top of whatever you pay for speedy cable or DSL Internet access.”

But, “Does it pay to become an AOL member anymore?” – Baig asks (like it ever did pay to be an AOL ‘member’ ; ) And, “If you already subscribe, is it worth sticking around?

Here’s Baig’s bottomline:

“While not a perfect clone, the start page of AOL.com looks an awful lot like the opening page inside AOL. And much of what you’ll find there also mimics the experiences you might have had on AOL.

“Only now you can enjoy it all for free.”
