Sprint high-speed wireless
p2pnet.net News:- Sprint has started offering a high-speed wireless services broadband Net services to laptop computer users, “betting that the fast-growing market for mobile data will offset falling phone call prices,” says the Washington Post.
But it’s more than a year and a half after rival Verizon Wireless started offering broadband Internet connections, the LA Times points out.
“Sprint, which is seeking government approval to buy Nextel Communications Inc, said monthly service fees would start at $40 for downloads of up to 40 megabytes of data – the equivalent of about 10 to 20 digital song downloads,” says the Post. “Its $80-a-month price for unlimited use is in line with Verizon’s charges.”
Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group, began offering its EvDO service in October 2003 in San Diego and Washington, then expanded the service into other regions soon after, says the LA Times, adding:
“It currently offers its wireless broadband service in 43 markets.”
