Madster appeal turned down
Johnny Deep’s long battle to keep his Aimster/Madster centralized p2p network alive is now over.
The US Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear his challenge to a federal judge’s order that closed Aimster, as Madster was known until AOL stepped in, claiming the ‘Aim’ part was too close to the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM).
Deep claimed Aim was a play on his daughter’s name – Aimee.
“The court gave no explanation for declining to hear an appeal by Aimster’s founder, John Deep of Cohoes, N.Y., in the first Internet music-swapping case to reach the justices,” says a Boston Globe story here.
