Knopfler concert downloads
p2pnet.net News:- Former Dire Straits leader Mark Knopfler thinks he’s found a way to make live concerts pay.
Twice.
He and his band are recording their Shangri-La world tour and rich enthusiasts will be available to buy downloads from Knopfler’s web site.
Knopfler and band are performing live at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville tonight (July 13) and “this show and subsequent performances will be recorded on AMD64 technology running Yamaha/Steinberg’s Nuendo audio software on the Windows(R) XP Pro operating system and are expected to be available for download within days,” says AMD.
“Chuck Ainlay, AMD64 Masters Group member, audio industry veteran and co-producer of Mark’s records is supervising the mixing and mastering of the live recordings also using AMD64 technology.”
Twelve other shows already recorded on the tour are available now.
"The good news for fans is that once you buy a $15 download, you’ll be able to burn it to CD as many times as you like," says BillboardPostPlay, adding, "it’s an exciting new alternative for certain artists to recoup some of their losses from declining CD sales…Also, concert download sales will probably increase once prices drop below CD pricing – since there’s no artwork, etc:

Jon, IMHO the story is fine, but try to edit out this kind of tripe if you can. I know you are busy. Nobody cares what processor/software/OS was used and these bozos certainly don’t need free advertizing. The sampling rate used might interest hard core audio tech heads but the rest is pure horse apples.
