Does Google know too much?
p2pnet.net News:- Google may know way too much about you and is, “becoming one of the largest privacy risks on the Internet.”
So says Chris Hoofnagle, senior counsel with EPIC (Electronic Privacy Information Center), quoted in a Seattle Post-Intellgencer story which says Google’s “rapid expansion” may also be prompting concerns that it, “may know too much: what you read, where you surf and travel, whom you write”.
Not that Hoofnagle is suggesting that Google has “strayed from its mantra” of making money “without doing evil,” the story hastens to add.
“Rather, some privacy advocates worry about the potential: The data’s very existence – conveniently all under a single digital roof – makes Google a prime target for abuse by overzealous law enforcers and criminals alike.”
Through hacking, “or with the assistance of rogue employees, they say, criminals could steal data for blackmail or identity theft. Recent high-profile privacy breaches elsewhere underscore the vulnerability of even those systems where thoughtful security measures are taken,” says the Post.
“Law enforcement, meanwhile, could obtain information that later becomes public, in court filings or otherwise, about people who are not even targets of a particular investigation.”

A lot of people out there are worried about google… too many if you ask me.
Although google may have bad privacy statements, that aren’t that bad when you think about it, its not like they’re gonna do anything to us! They store info like where we search, and what we click, at MOST! They don’t even know our names! They put a cookie on out computer, like most other websites out there, that gives each computer a different ID, not any personal info! =P
People only pay more attention to google cause they are getting bigger.
