Immortalise YOUR voice : )
p2pnet.net News:- Are you famous? Or are you not famous – maybe just infamous : p? Either way, remember Halsey Burgund who was gathering voice recordings for a new composition about the benefits of file sharing?
Well, although Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky) and Kembrew McLeod (author of ‘Freedom of Expression’, 2005 Doubleday) have, among others, made ‘donations, “I haven’t gotten enough submissions to begin writing the music yet,” Burgund tells p2pnet.
But he has figured out how to speed up the collection process. He’s created a web-based recording system whereby anyone with internet access and a mic on their computer (virtually all laptops come equipped) can press a single button to record themselves, and another to playback their recording, which is saved on Burgund’s server automatically.
“One of the ways this will hopefully be a powerful argument in support of filesharing is if I am able to show the variety of musicians who are in support of the technology,” he says.
“I’m hoping that by making it much easier to submit recordings, I’ll start to get many more contributions from musicians all over the place. Once I get 30 or so from different musicians, I’ll start writing the music. I don’t simply layer recordings on top of pre-written music (I let the spoken voices determine where the music is going in many ways), so I have to wait until I get lots of submissions to even begin writing music.”
Yup. We tried, and it’s dead easy. But our mic isn’t working for some reason. Gotta fix it : )
Meanwhile, Burgund hasn’t been sitting around vegetating. Listen to his a song to my spider here

as he admists he hasn’t got enough submissions in all the time he’s been asking for them, that should tell him something – namely that no-one is interested nor wants to be part of it.
move on and do something useful.
