Building with the Beeb

p2pnet.net News:- Use our stuff to build your stuff.

That’s the slogan behind a competition launched by the BBC, Britain’s principal broadcaster, to get developers to remix BBC content to make new applications.

“We want people to innovate and come up with prototypes to demonstrate new ways of exploring the BBC’s TV schedule,” project leader Ben Metcalfe says.

The backstage.bbc.co.uk competition opened in May but only became official yesterday.

Since then, more than 50 prototype have been submitted and, “there are a number which the BBC is interested in looking at further, says Metcalfe.

The competition runs until September 5 and content feeds are now available for people to build with on a non-commercial basis.
