BT, Apple, broadband deal
p2pnet.net News:- BT, Britain’s largest telco, hopes a deal it’s made with Apple will prompt more people in the UK to sign on the dotted line.
New customers will get up to 40 free tracks from the UK iTunes when they opt for a broadband package and those signing up to BT’s entry level Broadband Basic service will get six free tracks from iTunes, says netimperative.
Not only but also, “All new customers will also receive a £15 (about $27 at the time of writing) discount on the purchase of an iPod”.

If I were in Britain, this would not inspire me to either get iTunes nor an iPod. Since I would want neither, why would it make me more inclined to get the internet service?
ITunes are eat up with DRM which I neither like nor will I buy. I have no need of an iPod. So where’s the incentive?

As the above post says, 40 songs? Is that all????
loaded with DRM as well? no thanks!
iPod? who wants one of them?
As for BT – I have this computer hooked up on it, too many people use it, download speeds are dreadful at times, I needed to download a 120+MB file a few days ago, it ran at below 3KB/s ….. loaded up the other PC with Wanadoo and had it within 7 minutes.
People know that they (BT) have problems since they are popular, you hear about the complains and don’t hear much positive feedback.
personally, I can’t see many people just signing up to BT since it offers iTunes downloads / discounted iPods, although some people will see it as an advantage and actually sign up

That sounds like a great deal, but I’ve got a better one. How bout I just use any internet service of my choice, and get an unlimited number of free songs?
