p2pnet.net News:- Bill and the Boyz just never seem to learn.
In two of their more recent screw-ups they tout Microsoft Vista as the ‘new’ name for their very old Longhorn system. Then they bring in Windows Genuine Advantage, an Active X consumer control application through which they hope to ferret around in your system to see if you’re using ‘their’ Windows XP and 2000 as opposed to someone else’s.
But count on it: hacks will keep on turning up. For example, simply use GenuineCheck.exe in win2000 compatibility mode and it’ll return a valid code, says sinhack.net’s tintin on Full-disclosure, also pointing out pointing out, “Microsoft can change his server part of the check in order to block this”.
And, “Microsoft will be updating the validation system from time to time and plans to address these issues,” CNET News quotes a Microsoft rep as saying.

How to bypass windows Genuine Advantage Check on Windows XP

Procedure…
It took basically 5 minutes to figure out how to bypass this check. However, Microsoft can change his server part of the check in order to block this.
1. Block the ActiveX execution.
2. Choose the alternate method and download the GenuineCheck.exe
3. Right-click this executable and go the compatibilty tab
4. Set the compatibily mode to Windows 2000
5. Run GenuineCheck.exe
6. Paste the code returned in the Browser.
7. off you go.

This one was too good to pass up. Gave it a try and it works. So how many holes in GA does this make now? Proves how dumb MS is, LOL!
PS: There is no way in hell that I’m going to be upgrading to anything that has DRM in it, Vista or otherwise (hardware too). I plan to make sure EVERYONE I know doesn’t either.

It didn’t work for me. After i copied the code and pushed (twice) the continue, it says:
“The executable needs to run in native mode and it was run in a special compatibility mode for another operating system.”
So they figured it out. I think, they’ve fixed it. Any solution?

i opened up thegenuineadvatage.exe but i dont know where to ype in that code that comes up since its too small to type into the windows roduct key update tool. help please. can u answer to my email adress which is ladypink_1@hotmail.co.uk thankyou please help
