Wanna buy an F-5A/B?
p2pnet.net:- According to the Korea Times, South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) says they’ve considered selling the retired F-5A/B aircraft, which opened the era of supersonic fighters for the Korean Air Force in 1965, to foreign nations including Mexico and Poland.
And they’re going cheap !
“We have about 50 F-5A/B fighter jets at the moment, half of which are used for educational and demonstrational purposes,” a KAI official is quoted as saying.
“The ministry will consider selling the remaining half to foreign nations at $100 per unit. “It’s a nominal price.” No kidding.
Apparently, it’s a part of a plan to sell the K AI developed KT-1 and T-50 supersonic trainers to foreign nations, and it’s customary to sell outdated equipment at a token cost.
But the sale requires the consent of the nation that made the weapons, in this case, the United States.
