The cartel looks at these hungry people and see only one thing – a source of money. That is all people are to them is a revenue stream. They don’t care if these people starve to death as long as they can get a few Rubles out of them in exchange for cartel brokered filth. People are cattle to them, they see each of us as a certain amount of revenue.

Not only have these thugs poisoned American culture, but they also are poisoning America’s image. It took my cousin visiting America this year to finally believe that most Americans are not sluts, gangsters, brutal cops and such. This is the impression many people in the world have of Americans. One of the probable reasons Islamic extremists attack Americans is likely because of the way they perceive American culture. They are afraid that their daughters might grow up to be whores, their wives adultresses, their sons tattooed gangstas. This is what many see when they hear about American “democracy.” If I lived in those parts of the world and that is all I saw of America, I would want to fight to keep my nation pure.

You learn from your past mistakes to learn something and make sure it wont happen again. But the cartels dont get anything, they keep going on and on with their tactics. Screaming and screaming at a nation is not going to jump start them. Russia isn’t the most wealthiest nation, and I have travelled Russia and other nations bordering Russia many times, and there are quite a lot of families living in poverty, the last thing the Russian government will do is deal with the cartels in order to get them more money from lawsuits. This is will just be a disaster.

Ukraine (borders Russia) has a piracy rate of 91%, that is extremely high. They are even plants that produce fake copies of music/movies/games/programs and aren’t hidden at all. The government isn’t doing anything. The Ukrainian people have are more in poverty than Russia, and they too refuse to budge. Sure the government passed a few laws after the USA imposed a trade sanction for piracy, no one has ever enforced this law. There are even vendors that sell right in the bazzars (open air markets) the pirated things and they aren’t stopped and arrested they just sell.

The only way the cartels will get any influence is to actually help out the people and help out the government. In a position if you scratch my back I will scratch yours. But I dont see this coming to play soon.

Which is both part of the reason why so many Canadians get all up in arms the minute you compare the similarities between US/Canada…. and at the same time, a device used by polititicians when something can’t be done… ie, sending troops somewhere, etc. They will often pander to the populace using anti-American rhetoric, but in reality, they are often beholden to their US overlords for SOME reason. Just look at softwood lumber, the US loses in court, then ignores the decision, and Canada does nothing to fight it, or slap reciprocal duties on goods from the US.

I think Russia has more important things to worry about (as should the US have). Still I suppose the music cartel isn’t able to buy laws in Russia as they have in the US. Who’d have thought it – Russia less corrupt than the US when it comes to this?

The cartels, are controlled by the RIAA / MPAA, which themselves are controlled by a ’select group’ of individuals, who shall remain anonymous for now (but do a little digging, and you’ll find their individual names).

I’m happy the IFPI is so concerned about murder, counterfiting, slavery, robbery and the like that major criminal enterprises engage in and hopefully clean up the world and make Earth into a utopia. (sarcasm here).

They must be pretty damn arrogant to think a soverign nation, like Russia, with the size and power to do whatever they like will listen to an insignificant mafia mentality entertainment cartel. the russian mafia (who controls the government) has these kind of people for lunch.

Recently, a Chinese military leader openly said they are willing to nuke the US because they can easily survive such an exchange. Russia & China hae joined their militaries & are performing joint exercises in anticipation of fighting the USA in 5-10 years. The USA’s answer is to buy more Chinese goods with money China lends it, help China build some nuclear power plants with VP Cheney’s help, plus it plans on outsourcing some aircraft carrier building to the Chinese. China’s also planning on selling their cars in the USA & say they can build a car equivalent to a $60,000 Cadillac & sell it for US $12,000. Bush also said, once, that Vlad Putin is a good man & he knew from “looking into his heart”…of darkness, I presume?

I would imagine the senerio will go sort of like this…

High level diplomats will contact the offical Russian government and tell them they are in violation of WIPO IP trade agreements (this assumes that Russia has signed such agreements for world trade). That if they don’t clean up their house and fall in line that the rest of the world that has also signed such agreements will be forced not to trade with them. If they wish access to world markets that they will have to remove the copyright/patent issues.

While we don’t hear much of it, you can be sure that Canada officals have heard much the same speech and that is why, whether the populace wants it or not, some form of those laws will be enacted. That is their big stick.
