Turkmenistan bans lip synching
p2pnet.net News:- Turkmenistan president Saparmurat Niyazov has, "outlawed opera and ballet and railed against long hair and gold teeth" and now he’s, "determined to wipe out another perceived scourge: lip synching.”
So says the Globe & Mail, going on, “Mr. Niyazov has ordered a ban on lip synching performances across the tightly controlled Central Asian country, citing ‘a negative effect on the development of singing and musical art,’ the president’s office said Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, one can see on television old voiceless singers lip-synching their old songs,” Niyazov told a cabinet meeting in comments broadcast on state TV on Tuesday, according to the story. “Don’t kill talents by using lip synching … Create our new culture.”
Niyazov is an, “authoritarian leader and is known for his massive personality cult,” says Wikipedia. “Believing Turkmenistan to be a nation devoid of a national identity, he has attempted to rebuild the country in his own image. He renamed the town of Krasnovodsk, on the Caspian Sea, Turkmenbashi after himself, in addition to renaming several schools, airports and even a meteorite after himself and his immediate family.
“His face appears on all Manat banknotes and large portraits of the president hang all over the country, especially on major public buildings and avenues. Statues of himself and his mother are scattered all over Turkmenistan, including one in the middle of the Kara Kum desert as well as a gold-plated statue atop Ashgabat’s largest building, the Neutrality Arch, that rotates to face the sun. Niyazov has commissioned a massive palace in Ashgabat commemorating his rule. ‘I’m personally against seeing my pictures and statues in the streets – but it’s what the people want’, Niyazov said.”
Lip synching is now banned at all, "cultural events, concerts, on television and at private celebrations such as weddings," adds the Globe.

This type of authoritarian regime will be the standard for all governments over the world unless the people unite to throw off this type of oppression. It isn’t just the Police States of America, Britain, Europe, but just about all governments. I give it less then 10 years before all of the world consists of police states where we will be rules by cartel-government alliances. It is time for people to set a world disobedience week, where every freedom-loving individual commits one act of defiance against tyranny. I say this week should be Christmas week, because this is when the cartels rake in the largest amounts of cash and many people are on some kind of holiday. Many people will have their time to carry out their act of disobedience within this timeframe.

This disobedience week sounds as wacko as the Turkmen president!

The U.S. could definitely use a similar law, cripes just think of never having to endure Ashley Simpson or Clarkson or the rest of those no talent cookie-cutter studio manufactured pinheads ever again…..makes me smile.

Too True, TT ; )
They’d fade away if they actually had to use their own voices minus all that electronic boosting and special-effect help, and on a regular basis. heh
Cheers!

Give us a break you paranoid freak. You suggest a week of disobedience then schedule it for the Christmas Holidays so that people will have the the time to commit their crimes. That seems to be counter-productive to your goals…..I’m going to rise up against authority (as soons as the boss says it’s okay).

Many people do not want to take time off work or cannot afford to. This way it just gives ‘em another option.

Do you have a better idea on how people can regain their freedom?
Voting time and time again for members of the same two whackjob political parties have not done a thing. Neither has protesting. I am so disgusted with the way me and other people (U.S. and around the world) are being governed. We as citizens have no other voice left.
Look at the Black rights movement, and also the move to end the Viet Nam war. Whether or not one agreed with the causes, civil disobedience forced the government to concede. In other words, it worked.
Any groups that want to take direct action usually have a member or two that cannot keep their mouth shut, that is the reason why i like this lone wolf solution. Setting the civil disobedience time around Christmas does several things. Those who lock down stores and offices have more of an impact. Those who put up public displays get more exposure, and those who impede the free flow of cash from the citizens to the cartels will have a huge impact. Setting the time around Christmase also gives those who cannot afford otherwise to take time away from work more of an incentive to participate.

One is not required to actually have any singing skills whatsoever in order to have a #1 single. I offer as evidence Tab Hunter (look for his tell-all book in the fall, where he admits his singing voice was ‘weak, at best’) who recorded “Young Love” and it bumped Elvis out of number 1 in early 1958. Tab was a Hollywood Heartthrob in the 1950s, starting out with blond beach-boy bimbo roles in the early 50s. As he started to get into his late 20s, the studios decided that he needed a hook into the next subgeneration of 16-24 year old girls and that “teen idol” was the way to go.
The prime example, of course, is Nancy “No-breath” Sinatra who hit #1 with “These Boots were Made for Walking.” That release was timed so that there wasn’t anything else of consequence being released in the three week period around the release date. Rumor has it that Daddy encouraged all of his “friends and their associates” to buy the record or he’d be ‘unhappy’ if his little girl didn’t have a #1 record (perhaps because hed have to continue to listen to incessant whining)’. There were reports of wiseguys buying dozens of copies of it at a time. That adds an ironic twist to the entire subject of Organized Crime’s involvement in the recording industry.
