p2p and IM virus threat
p2pnet.net News:- IMlogic is warning the Tixanbot trojan and Guapim worm are both using IM to spread.
“Users infected with Tixanbot will have their security protection shut down and will broadcast messages to everyone on their MSN Messenger contact list, says the company.
This message contains a link to download a copy of the Trojan.
The Guapim worm behaves similarly but uses MSN Messenger and, another leading public IM network, as well as other p2p file sharing networks to distribute links to download a variant of the Spybot worm.

This is another case of inexperience or stupid people being drafted into armies. Inexperience is something that can be remedied by giving the inexperienced proper information and tools to secure their computer.
It is the stupid people that frustrate me to no end. These are the people that insist on using insecure operating sysems, exit the update programs that have been set to provide some security, and click on every cute looking attachment. These are the ones that keep getting malware infections despite my best efforts.
I am beginning to think that the grey hat hackers should draft stupid people’s computers into the war on spammers and phishers. Since stupid people install the malware (that attacks everyone else) on their computer, they should make restitution for their acts. When their computer is bogged down with warring programs, they will doo one of the following: They will disconnect from the Internet when their computer becomes unusable (and stop sending spam to my domain). They will keep hounding some geek family member or friend to fix their computer only to be reinfected within a short period of time (eventually the geek will tire of fixing the same computer over and over again). They will spend a small fortune every few days to have their computer disinfected professionally and either go broke and get off the internet, or start making wise decisions. They will get so frustrated with the situation they allowed to develop that they will stop using their computer, get off the net and quit sending me spam.
In today’s world where the sheeple do mainly what is immediately gratifying in spite of the long term consequences, immediate inconvenience is necessary to change their behaviour. I call this training by malware. I take the ethical high road with regards to using peoples’ computers without to attack others their permission.
However, I could sympathize with someone who writes a program that requires a person to have to correctly answer computer security questions before they are allowed (by the program) to browse the net again.
