iPod dud battery saga ends
p2pnet.net News:- Thank you for calling Apple. My name`s Ryan. May I have your first name, please.
That`s the first line to the Apple iPod Battery Saga begun by the Neistat brothers when they launched a guerilla video campaign based on their guerilla posting campaign to highlight problems they were having because of a duff battery in Casey’s iPod.
And now the last line has finally been written —— after years of stalling by Apple.
Five class-action lawsuits accusing Apple of misrepresenting claims of the battery life in its iPod digital music player were filed at the end of December and, `The Company is beginning its investigation of these claims,` it promises in its quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, we posted at the beginning of 2004.
Now, A San Mateo County judge on Thursday approved the settlement of a class action suit that will offer relief to as many as 1.3 million iPod owners who may have been victim to poor or defective batteries, says AppleInsider.
The original lawsuit, filed on behalf of US residents, alleged that Apple failed to disclose the battery limitations of its first three iPod models.

AppleInsider says owners of either a first- or second-generation model are entitled to $25 cash or $50 credit at the Apple store.
Meanwhile, owners who actually paid Apple to repair a battery in one of the players will be entitled to up to half of that cost back and Owners of third-generation iPod models are entitled to a free replacement battery if the battery fails.
Are you entitled to take a bite out of Apple? Go here to find out. If you know you are, here’s a .pdf of the claim form. And here’s the settlement web site.

Does anybody know if this settlement will also apply to Canadian consumers?
Thanks.
