‘I’m going to fucking kill Google’
p2p news / p2pnet:- “A reliable source has passed along a legal document in the ongoing lawsuit between Google and Microsoft over Google’s hiring of Kai-Fu Lee,” says John Battelle’s Searchblog.”
Mark Lucovsky was a “distinguished engineer at Microsoft who defected to Google in November of 2004,” it goes on. “His statement makes for some pretty interesting reading, to say the least.
The statement reads in part:
Prior to joining Google, I set up a meeting on or about November 11, 2004 with Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer to discuss my planned departure….At some point in the conversation Mr. Ballmer said: “Just tell me it’s not Google.” I told him it was Google.
At that point, Mr. Ballmer picked up a chair and threw it across the room hitting a table in his office. Mr. Ballmer then said: “Fucking Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy. I’m going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to fucking kill Google.” ….
Thereafter, Mr. Ballmer resumed trying to persuade me to stay….Among other things, Mr. Ballmer told me that “Google’s not a real company. It’s a house of cards.”
Wonder what Steve threw when he found out about Kai-Fu Lee?

What can Sweaty Ballmer do? Nothing. With the DOJ breathing down his neck examining his every move, he is kinda between a rock and a hard place. Google not a real company? Wall St. seems to differ in that opinion.
Sorry Steve, you loose…again.

This is what’s wrong with a lot of larger companies. They insist on hiring jerks. Some companies even assume jerks make better managers because they’ll push their subordinates harder than non-jerks would.
I really think scientists should focus on detection and eradication of jerk-like tendencies in people before they’re born. Or at least before they enter the workforce.

Microsoft is already doing what they can do to “Kill Google” and similar competition: they lobby government to make radical changes to the law that will benefit them against competitors. This is what the recent changes to Copyright are really about (they won’t benefit the RIAA/MPAA/etc even though these folks were duped into supporting it), as well as the recent changes to the interpretation of the patent act (to “legalize” software patents in a growing number of jurisdictions).
If it were not for “peer produced, peer distributed, peer supported” Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS – http://flora.ca/floss.shtml ), Google would not have been possible/feasible. Having that many computers running a non-FLOSS operating system would have been too expensive for Google to have done (either in-house or procurement from a third party supplier such as Microsoft/Apple/Sun/etc). As the law is changed to try to push FLOSS out of the marketplace, Microsoft will win against current competitors and will be able to lock out the possibility of future competitors emerging.

Oh my! Are you allowed to use bad words on the internet? I thought they passed a law against that, as well as prohibiting sites from showing naked women fabricating pipe bombs.

This is exactly like the North American Automobile industry in 1973 and 1974 trying to get the federal Government to levy stiff tariffs on imported Japanese automobiles. The imports were smaller and more fuel efficient than the gas guzzling behemoths of dubious quality that Detroit was still making because their process for revamping the design and engineering of a new model required 3 years lead time. After spending a long, cold, dark winter sitting on endless lines to fill up the family barge during the gasoline shortage of late 1973, Americans wanted more compact cars that used less fuel and Japan was already selling them here.
If you can’t be successful by designing, building, and marketing a superior product, then stuff a paper bag full of money and head to Washington DC…….

If Google’s boss dies, we now know who to blame and send to prison…
Has Ballmer ever worked a second in his life ? I doubt…
We should really get rid of M$

Now you can see why Linux is getting so much buzz. This is just one of many things that MS has screwed up on. Go Mandrake!!

I think Ballmer has become confident of himself now that he is on Viagra.

Well.. on that one, a house of cards, I’d have to agree with Steve..
Google’s value is vapor…. How its overpriced stock ever got so inflated is beyond me… It’s going to be laughable when someone really goes through what ‘value’ a search and email company really has….with their primary source of income being advertising – something that any webhosting company will tell you – doesnt pay enough to pay the bills on most cases… but even if it did pay them, it wouldn’t pay much more… I’d laugh of Google offered me a job and I was working at M$oft… but hey, thats me.
btw – if I’m wrong about google, then educate me.. but all I see is smoke and mirrors with their valuation.
Just my 10 cents.
