Symantec ’sensitive data’ flaw

p2p news / p2pnet:- Symantec admits there’s a vulnerability in its Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition version 9 could expose server username and password information.

On Friday, the company said it is investigating the report, says BetaNews.

“While an attacker would need to access the network in order to view the sensitive data, the log files are viewable regardless of user privileges, according to company reports on the vulnerability,” says the story, adding that in February, the company owned up to a critical flaw that could potentially open the door to viruses.

  1. Reader's Write Says:

Who actually uses Symantec products realistically?

I mean, their products are well known for being bulky, resource hungry monsters, with horrible interfaces. I use AVG (grisoft anti-virus), it’s free , uses very little resources and catches all the viruses that the commercial products do.

Infact, open source projects/free products seem to be more stable and better designed these days, than their commerical counter parts.

I didn’t use to think linux stood a chance vs windows, but things seem to be changing. With open source projects, you know what you are getting, top notch programs, which are being improved all the time. And then theres the issue of hidden components. Open source software is peer reviewed, which makes it much safer as far as im concerned.

I currently use windows/gentoo linux, but with this trend continuing, i see myself using only pure open source OS/programs in a few years.

I got a sub7 virus using their products…I still have no clue how something so dated can still enter my computer :P

    I alway thought that sub7 was a trojan…

    Not the condom…
