Europeans want iPhones
p2p news / p2pnet:- When the Sony Ericsson W800 Mobile Walkman arrived in March with up to 30 hours playback time, audio playback options, a 2 megapixel digital camera, FM radio and a 512Mb Sony Memory Stick Duo, it was interesting. But no one was terribly excited.
Same with Nokia`s 6230i, push to talk phone with a built-in stereo music player supporting mp3, M4A and AAC, not to speak of a 1.3 megapixel camera.
But enter Apple and all of a sudden, the Europeans, at least, are hot to trot.
O2 is reputedly looking to offer the phone in the UK, while German giant T-Mobile said at a Berlin tradeshow that it plans to carry it, says PC Pro.
The launch of the phone was put back earlier this summer because of industry ambivalence to it, says the story. But, Two things may have conspired to change their minds.
First, Apple must have guaranteed a fair proportion of the revenues from phone-based downloads to make carrying the phone worthwhile; secondly such is the increasing power of the iTunes brand, as a consequence of the proliferation of iPods, that it would be very difficult for the phone companies to establish their own alternatives.
Apple is supposedly launching the Motorola-Cingular iPhone phone at San Francisco’s Moscone Center tomorrow at 10:00 am.

no, we don’t.
it’s just that the shops think we do because they’re overstocked with all of the they couldn’t sell or give away in the past year. so they think we want new ones.
no, we don’t. we just want cheap ones – without any strings.

I’m assuming this will use harddrive storage. Because we dont want some crappy flash ram memory or anything.
Also will their be built in DRM? if so to what extent, and how does this affect the freedom to play any mp3?
