Kuro decision expected Friday
p2p news / p2pnet:- Back in December, 2003, the Big Music cartel’s IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) weighed into Taiwanese and international credit card companies listed on Kuro, a p2p site in Taiwan.
The labels were, "targeting Kuro as Kuro is a threat to traditional music publishing channels," Kuro spokesman Philip Wang said at the time. "That is why they are trying by all means to kill us."
Kuro is the largest file-swapping Internet software in Taiwan with more than 500,000 members and now, “In the first criminal case against a p2p Web site in Taiwan, the Taipei prosecutor filed charges against Kuro’s management team and one subscriber under the amended Copyright Law,” says the China Post.
The Taiwan District Court is expected to rule on Friday.
Speaking for Fashionnow, the Kuro distributor, David Yang is quoted as saying, "We think the situation will remain the same no matter what happens Friday. If we lose the case, it doesn’t mean our members will go back to the old ways and buy CDs. Lawsuits are not the key to solving the problem."
Rather, Yang says, the industry must come to terns with the new environment, states the China Post.
"We are facing a new age," it has Yang saying.
"You must change the way you make your money and find cooperation between Kuro’s members and the artists. There must be new rules which allow digital music to run its course."

“…cooperation between Kuro’s members and the artists…”
won’t happen… **AAs of the world don’t want it – in a scenario where a cooperation like this happens they are not needed.
