NerdTV arriveth
p2p news / p2pnet:- Online sex symbol Robert X. Cringely has launched NerdTV.
But what’s that, you ask? It’s a new weekly online TV show from PBS.org technology columnist Cringely, we answer.
Distributed under a Creative Commons license, each hour-long show features a guest from the world of technology who’s a household name, “if your household is nerdy enough”.
And the fact it’s CC means you can not only share the shows with your friends without wondering if Dan ‘Jedi’ Glickman and his pals at the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) will get all hot and bothered, you can also edit your own version.
Downloads are playable via any MPEG-4 player that takes your fancy and, "Still in development but coming soon is a Mediaframe Open Source Java applet player, which will play NerdTV video right in your browser without any plug-ins," says the site.
Each show comes in two versions (one with subtitles and one without). AND there are three audio-only versions for radio fiends.
"Yes, NerdTV will be a Podcast, too," says Bob. "Ogg Vorbis plays in WinAmp or Sonique with a special plugin. AAC plays on an iPod or in iTunes. MP3s play in most media players.
"And for those who remember books, we have included a written transcript of each show. Enjoy."
We will ; )
NerdTV’s first interviewee was, as of September 6, Macintosh OS programmer Andy Hertzfeld, and here`s a list of guests for the near future:
September 13, PayPal co-founder Max Levchin; September 20, Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy; September 27, Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak; October 4, Internet publisher Tim O’Reilly; October 11, Autodesk co-founder Dan Drake; October 18, TCP/IP inventor Bob Kahn; October 25, computer mouse inventor Doug Engelbart; November 1, Former Lotus chief scientist Jerry Kaplan; November 8, Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle; November 15, Former Apple chief scientist Larry Tesler; November 22, Google CEO Eric Schmidt; and, November 29, The father of Linux, Linus Torvalds.

Is this on broadcast TV? Or are the installments available for purchase/downloading? Great article, but lacking in pertinent details for those of us uninitiated in the world of nerdy technology.
Please, please! More details!!
