Cerf on US education
p2pnet / p2p News:- The US educational system, especially at the undergraduate and graduate levels, needs some work, but in the meantime, we seem to be cranking out people who are capable,” says Net pioneer Vinton Cerf.
He remark came in a TechWeb interview on his decision to jump ship from MCI to Google, where`s he`s to become the `chief Internet evangelist`.
Why the move? It`s nothing to do with the fact that a deal under which Verizon will acquire MCI for $8.5 billion is pending. Rather, TechWeb has him saying, Rather, Google is a place, that’s just full of creative energy, and I like places like that.
Cerf said he`ll continue encouraging the adoption of IPv6, the next generation of the Internet protocol.
On his remark that although the US educatiuonal system may not be perfect, it’s still not bad, Cerf is “less critical than Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who has said the nation’s educational system isn’t producing enough computer engineers,” adds the story.
