p2p news / p2pnet:- “Companies with ties to the Bush White House and the former head of FEMA are clinching some of the administration’s first disaster relief and reconstruction contracts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,” says Wired News.
Vice president Dick Cheney recently dropped by at Gulfport to give residents - and the media, of course - a pep talk on what the feds are doing to help disaster victims, one of whom told him to fuck off.
A home-made video capturing the event was posted on eBay, but was quickly removed from the auction site.
“At least two major corporate clients of lobbyist Joe Allbaugh, President George W. Bush’s former campaign manager and a former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have already been tapped to start recovery work along the battered Gulf Coast,” says the story.
“One is Shaw Group and the other is Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root. Vice President Dick Cheney is a former head of Halliburton.”
Exactly how “former” Cheney’s involvement is has been questioned a number of times.
Meanwhile, “Bechtel National, a unit of San Francisco’s Bechtel, has also been selected by FEMA to provide short-term housing for people displaced by the hurricane. Bush named Bechtel’s CEO to his Export Council and put the former CEO of Bechtel Energy in charge of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.”
Allbaugh is also a friend of Michael Brown, director of FEMA who was removed as head of Katrina disaster relief and sent back to Washington amid allegations he had padded his resume, Wired News points out.

apparently, we’ve all been concentrating on the wrong storm. i believe mrs. bush knows the correct hurricane. according to frau bush, it’s not katrina. it’s called corinna, or corrina. but definitely not katrina.

first and for most, politics dont get done without heeping helpings of pork barrel spending. ever hear of the saying, “the squeking wheel gets the grease.”? simple reality of the system at hand is lobbiests contribute huge amounts of cash to influence politicians to see things their way. both parties do it, both parties want it to never end, and the largest contributor (to both parties) is the union all the beaurocrats belong to as federal employees. nothing better than life after politics, its where the real money is to be made. by the by, i would rather see the presidents croonies a bunch of american fatcats, than foriegn nationals. yes, foreign pac groups exist, chinese military is the highest bidder in our for sale policies. all those chinese lobbiest hangin with clinton were gettin their cronies jobs in china, appointments here, and favored trade statis.as u can see, they all suck ass in washington. dont fret or get worked up about who said or did what, have faith in the fact that as americans when the chips r down the people (not government) get it takin care of.
