Dangerous Sony PS2 adaptors

p2p news / p2pnet:- Sony is recalling 3,500,000 faulty PS2 power adaptors in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australasia.

“These units have the potential to overheat and may cause an injury hazard to consumers,” it says.

Or as Spong puts it, “It has emerged that the PlayStation 2 is the latest console to try and burn you to death while you sleep, with Sony recalling a whole load of AC adaptors this morning.”

The dodgy units were sold with black SCPH70002, 70003 and 70004 slimline PlayStation 2 between August and December 2004, although some may also have been bought after December. Sony says they have the product identification code HP – ATH048H03 with one of the following date stamps:

  • 2004.08
  • 2004.09
  • 2004.10
  • 2004.11
  • 2004.12
