Shareaza version 2.2 released
p2p news / p2pnet:- Shareaza version 2.2 has just been released, and it’s a “huge upgrade from 2.1,” promise the developers.
With multiple fixes on all supported networks, there are also “vastly improved multi-network peer-to-peer file sharing capabilities”.
New features include a scheduler, review viewer, enhanced translations and improved metadata support, and:
“Help facilities and documentation have been improved to make the application easier to use, while a variety of options to improve performance on low end machines have been added.”
And don’t forget - Shareaza is open source!
Go here for a download.

I’ve been using the last beta version for a while, and it seems to work much better than older versions have on my system. Just make sure to hack your TCPIP.SYS file to increase the maximum concurrent connections you can have if you use Service Pack 2 in Windows XP (I set mine at 100) and then make a few setting changes in Shareaza to maximize SP2 performance (see their forum sticky on which ones). Great program considering all that it attempts to do, good support on their forums, and you can’t beat free open source software that is clean looking and well designed.

I love version 2.1 much more than version 2.2. Version2.2 does not show uploads. It does not tell me if my download is “pending” because the source is inactive. If I don’t know this, I could spend a lot of time hoping and waiting for a file to download when it never will. Please, please bring back version 2.1 and try to fix its problems
