WinMX peer cache working very nicely chaps. OpenNap networks are powerful too. OpenNap itself is reporting just under 46,000,000 files and/or 2,800,000GBs. The peer cache does not report it’s own stats unfortunately. It would be interesting to know and compare

WinMX lives. There is a patch which will allow you to log back in to WinMX. It’s a bit slower than before but there are still many active users. Go here for the patch http://www.vladd44.com/

PLEASE!!! WINMX IS NOT DOWN!!! IS UP AND RUNNING AS USUAL:

1. download the file:

http://archive.winmxworld.com/Drac/hosts.zip

2. Put the extracted hosts file into this folder, overwriting the old
one – C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
***For Win98/Me users file location is C:\windows
3. Restart WinMX

et voila!!! the primary connection works..

More info:

1. the hosts file is just a list of primary hosts needed for winmx to
enter the p2p.

2. Once winmx.com was shut down.. nobody could enter the winmx p2p
network..

3. however, as you can see just manually entering a priming list of
primary hosts is enough to have it running.

So. WINMX IS STILL ALIVE.

To get the server.wsx go to www. gotnap.com
1) Login…create a Login and password.
2) Wait for your confirming email.
3) Click on “Clients Formats”
4) Click on ” servers.wsx”
5) Save it in a folder (your winmx folder is a good spot)
6) Open you Winmx program and click on OpenNap Protocal Networks.
7) Click on “Import.WSX and go to the folder where you downloaded servers.wsx. Double click on it and it will load up the list of servers that are shown on the Serverlist at gotnap.com.
Once servers are loaded, click (highlight) on what server(s) you want to connect. Then click on the “Connect” button and you are in business!! – ric
