This Israeli lawsuit is extremely important for the whole world. The sued sites lala.co.il and Lionetwork.co.il are collecting donations from there users to fight ALIS. If they'll succeed it would be a death blow to other organizations as MPAA / RIAA hence Israel will become a refugee country for all persecuted p2p sites.
Furthermore both sites are raising important aspects of the fight:
Lionetwork never published ed2k links just review for movies and a short text to help find them on the donkey2000 network.
Lala site is offering government law changing which similar to the empty cassette law (Charge extra few cents for empty CDs)
I feel that whatever happen is Israel can effect the whole world.

When I download a file, I am actually making a copy of it, and I open myself to the entire world so users can download the same file from me. In effect, every user is a distribution and duplication machine, just like a CD burner

I don't remember seeing any zerox machine around and if it was a zerox machine, dam mine took 3 months several times to make a copy many times.

It will get worse. And it will get better.

Unfortunately, however, it won't be because the corporations suddenly experience a sudden, blinding burst of intelligence. Later rather than sooner, they'll realise that by staying on this ridiculous course, they're losing far more than they're gaining.

They'll slowly turn, dragged around by their insatiable lust for more. But not before they've caused thousands of new victims to suffer needlessly.

Cheers!

"Of the role they use to play in the past, as promoters of creation, all that's left is their operation as distribution companies. In light of the fact that it's much cheaper and simpler today to produce albums, there's no need for them to fulfill this function."

Even the cartel's lawyers seem to get the fact that their client's business model is totally obsolete.
With the internet as a very inexpensive promotion tool, and p2p as the cheapest, most efficient method of distribution, there is absolutely no need for the cartels to exist any longer.
Its getting close to zero hour for the cartels, so they are adopting the mantra of "Desperate times call for desperate measures".

This is going to get worse before it gets better, but then again, its always darkest before the dawn. ;)

"Except for Helicon which is an “odd bird” in the world of record companies, the financial state of the rest of the companies is very bad. Sales percentages such as those which we saw during the time of Michael Jackson's “Thriller” are long gone."

Is that why megacompanies like BMI are reporting all-time record profits?
