Music video shot on camphones
p2p news / p2pnet:- An Australian company says it`s made the first music video entirely with mobile-phone cameras.
Brisbane`s Film Headquarters shot the flic with US band the Presidents of the United States of America (PUSA) during a one day session in a Seattle studio, says Digital-Lifestyles.
A multiplicity of mobiles (which look like Sony Ericsson k750i’s to us) were set up on frames and tripods with handheld footage recorded by four crew members who wandered around the band as they played, with the footage being sent via Bluetooth to laptops, says the story.
Why record a video on “such a crappy medium (phone footage is 1/3000th the quality of standard broadcast) when high quality digicams could have been purchased for a few quid more?” questions Digital-Lifestyles, answering:
The director of music video, Grant Marshall from Film Headquarters tries to explain, ‘We came up with this idea 18 months ago but couldn’t find a band that would embrace the risk and vision. P.U.S.A loved the concept and were brave enough to undertake the risk.

Because the lower quality is much more suitable for file sharing, just like MP3’s.

and we all know that mp3’s didn’t take off now did they?
… oh wait, yes they did… why? They’re not as good as CD??
Because despite what the tech-heads out there think, media is a lot more intertwined with consumption than you’d think – we’re all familiar with mobile phones, it’s a method of consumption that we’re used to now.
So yeah sometimes the idea or concept that relates to us, doesn’t need to be in super high definition to be enjoyed.
That may be why it was picked as the Channel V (Australian Pay TV Music Channel) Clip of the week, and is consistently rating highly in the viewer request shows.
