This guy did this to MAKE MONEY. Yes I have downloaded music files BUT i have never sold any of them. I listen to them only and have never given it a thought to sell them. Althought the punishment seems extreme I think this kind of activity has created (in part) (including music flies) the demise that us people who download for personel use are facing now. P2P has no place for people who download to make a profit from. Don't get me wrong here, I am NOT siding with the BIG FOUR. But I will admit I do not feel to sorry for the greedy people who download solely to make money and get caught and finded. I'm sure they'd all consider finding another minimum wage paying job rather than risk being done for more money than they'll ever see. If cinemas started closing due to an inability to attract staff, i think even the cartels might have to stop and think about this a bit more. Imprisoning someone for sharing a file is just rediculous. Clearly these senators know nothing about the internet or technology. They just see the words piracy and immediatly assume they are dealing with terrorists or something. Even the word piracy is incorrect. Once again this just shows that politicians have an utter distain for the general public and voters alike. If the government no longer serves the best interests of it's citizans, then the government should be removed! All the parties are exactly the same. So how do we combat this? simple, dont vote at all. They need a minimum of votes to take office. If we all refuse to vote, then they can not be elected. We should stop voting until we have a party ready to exercise the best interests of the people, not the cartels and corporations. I feel sorry for anyone that lives in american. If one of these dickhead studio exces embezzled a million bucks from his own company the court system would fine him a hundred grand and he’d have to do 100 hours of community service playing tennis. This guy tapes a couple crap movies and SHARES them on the internet and is looking at the possiblity of 3 years hard time and a quarter mil fine. FECAL indeed.
