RIAA after Princeton. Again
p2p news / p2pnet:- Continuing their sue `em all intimidation and victimization marketing project, the owners of the Big Four record label cartel are after another Princeton student.
As part of its ongoing campaign to curb illegal file-sharing on college campuses, the music industry trade group plans to subpoena the University for information on a student allegedly engaged in music piracy, OIT senior policy adviser Rita Saltz said Monday, states the Daily Princetonian.
The cartel`s RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has already fired numerous subpoenas at Princeton students, and the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), too, is using high-pressure threat tactics.
“My heart and viscera just shrank and chilled,” the newspaper had university OIT policy adviser Rita Saltz saying when she learned the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) might follow the RIAA in suing students.
MPAA boss Dan `Jedi` Glickman had, expressed concern about, illegal movie downloading on the University network and attached a list of 66 IP addresses associated with alleged acts of infringement, according to university spokesman Eric Quinones.
However, it`s not Glickman Princeton has to worry about. Glickman was `promoted` out of his job as principal hitman, Bob Pisano, formerly of the Screen Actors Guild replacing him.
Meanwhile, in this latest attack, Saltz refused to indicate whether the targeted individual is a graduate or undergraduate student, but did say that the person has been notified, says the story.
RIAA spokeswoman Jenni Engebretsen is quoted as saying no case had yet gone to trial out of any RIAA lawsuits. But that may change soon.
Three mothers accused of copyright infringement decided to treat the RIAA `settlement` offers with the scorn they deserve.
Since September 2003, the RIAA has filed more than 14,000 copyright infringement lawsuits, 880 of which have been directed at college students, Engebretsen said, according to the Princetonian.

What i don’t understand is, if they are sharing files over their own networks internally, how does the RIAA/MPAA know about it?
Sounds like they are snooping on universities. Isn’t this illegal?

The really dumb thing about suing uni students is, they’re suing the next generation of potential recruits. I really can’t see too many ppl wanting to work for the cartels any time soon.
It’d be real funny if they had to stop suing ppl cause noone wanted to work in their “settlement centre” anymore.
