Top sci-fi classics of all time

p2pnet OT news:- Speaking of science fiction, what`s the top sci-fi classic of all time from a list of 50?

Yup. Star Trek. But you knew that already.

And what`s Number 50? ‘Earth – Final Conflict’.

We`d never heard of it either ; )

And in the middle at Number 25 is ‘Stargate Atlantis’

The list is the work of Boston.com which, decided to take a look at some of the sci-fi genre shows from yesteryear. Based on years of sci fi viewing experience and through a variety of online sources, we’ve come up with our picks for the Top 50 science fiction shows of all time.

Earth – Final Conflict’ aired from 1997 to 2002 and, followed a basic, but popular, storyline about aliens who come to Earth and solve the planet’s problems. But is there more? Are there any other intentions? Of course. The story focuses on a double agent, William Boone (played by Kevin Kilner), who is in search of the truth.

Ahhhh. The truth. heh

Stargate Atlantis is a “spinoff of Sci-Fi Channel’s original ‘Stargate SG-1′ series and is part of the current Friday night lineup on the channel”.

Something you think we should know? tips[at]p2pnet.net

Interesting list, I would not agree totally with the lineup, but all the good shows are mentioned.

Who on earth voted for these. The original startrek was good and everything, but compared to shows today like Stargate SG-1, The Outer Limits (New Series), XFiles, Startrek voyager, Startrek TNG. It just doesn’t work.

I mean they have Battlestar Galactica as no.2 What on earth?. Babylon 5 @ no.5, you must be joking??

I did enjoy sliders though, that was good series, atleast at the start. It did get a bit repetitious though after series 2.

My top shows would be in this order:-

    (1) The Outer Limits (New Series) – Without doubt the best ever sc-fi show.
    (2) Stargate SG-1 – Just excellent
    (3) Startrek the next generation – Classic (much better than the original series in my opinion)
    (4) Stargate atlantis – Quite new, but still a good show
    (5) Startrek Voyager – Very cool show. Great cast, good stories.
    (6) XFiles – The first few seasons were awesome, then they went all political and turned to crap.
    (7) Sliders – Made for some interesting stories, some were a litte silly at times though.
    (8) Tales from the Crypt – Not as good as outer limits, but still entertaining.
    (9) V – Used to love watching that show as a kid
    (10) Lost in space – Again i used to watch that as a kid, great show, a little old though, but good stories. Dr. Smith was great.
    (11) Buck Rogers – Classic :)

    Probablly missed a few.. :P
