Hello FrostWire
p2pnet special:- Following the Grokster v MGM Supreme Court decision, LimeWire founder Mark Gorton decided to modify the famous LimeWire p2p application so it won’t share audio files unless the files are licensed.
But there’s now a community driven project based on source code released by LimeWire LLC which aims to “create and maintain a Gnutella client according to the open standards of an international community”.
LimeWire is, however, a registered trademark, meaning the team can’t distribute the client under its old name.
Enter FrostWire, and now its creators are looking for innovative p2p fans who’d like to get involved.
They’re also trying to get more people working on the Java core, the interface and the C++ windows installer, based on GnucDNA and NSIS.
“Preliminary FrostWire versions will be available in mid-October and the full project, including the website, by December 2005, says FrostWire.
Adding that the developers are trying to maintain good relations to the LimeWire project, “The FrostWire team (all of whom are still members of the LimeWire open-source community) regrets LimeWire’s decision to start filtering content on Gnutella,” says the site.
“However, we will continue supporting LimeWire development and do not wish to make fundamental changes to the LimeWire core itself. FrostWire will not break with LimeWire’s design philosophy.”
To ensure FrostWire “successfully continues LimeWire’s legacy as the most sophisticated Gnutella client,” the team needs a lot of help, including cool skins and catchy logos and themes.
So if any or all of the above grabs you, don’t hesitate.
GO FOR IT !!!

I read about frostwire. How many people are going to want a p2p that is controlled. Shouldnt we be living in another country to be put under control like that? I have seen a new winmx available where they charge a dollar. Is that for real? Is Hitler running this country???
