Andersen, Santangelo v RIAA
p2p news / p2pnet:- We were having a look at the 15 most-visited p2pnet stories since we started tracking them at the beginning of the year.
Significantly, The ‘We’re Not Taking Any More’ club was at the top with 50,120 reads when we looked at 9:50 am, Pacific.
The post discusses Patricia Santangelo from New York, Dawnell Leadbetter from the Seattle area, and Tanya Andersen from Oregon, together with several other people.
The thing they have in common is: they`ve all decided to say No to the multi-million-dollar record label cartel attempts to terrorize them into buying `product` by issuing sue `em all subpoenas that aren`t worth the paper they`re printed on.
And for the first time, one of the victims, Tanya Andersen, is throwing the spurious claims from EMI, Warner, Universal and Sony BMG back into their teeth. She’s suing the labels’ RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) under RICO organized crime act.
Will she win? Or will the RIAA tuck its tail between its legs and run, as bullies and cowards usually do when someone stands up to them?
We’ll see.
In the meanwhile, 26 more people had checked out the We’re Not Taking Any More post by10:50, bringing the total to 50,146. That’s a lot of people. And that’s only p2pnet.
And in the #2 spot with 26,072 reads was p2pnet’s interview with Patricia Santangelo, the woman who first decided to tell the RIAA where to go.
Think about it.
Stay tuned for a Q&A with Leadbetter and Candy Chan, a mother who took on the RIAA on and won, and also watch for Atlantic v Huggins.
