I’m similar to you in that I am also concerned about these issues. Same with my “hippie friends”…heck, I don’t even drive, I bike around the city (30-60 miles a day, on average 30 miles) every day! It’s good exercise, saves money, non-polluting, good for the environment — and there’s a bonus.

For years, I’ve tried to lose my excess fat. Guess what?! Now, I only have a slight ‘double chin’….hahahahh I used to have a double (morphing into a triple) chins!!!!

All of the ‘important issues’ in life are inter-related, including those who run the RIAA / MPAA. News to some of you, those ppl who run these rackets, ALSO do what you mentioned above. So, either way, by ‘attacking’ them where it hurts most (their pocket books) you deal a blow to corruption…

Personally, I’m more concerned about the planet being contaminated by dioxin, acid rain, heavy metals (Like Bismuth and Molybdelium, not Judas Preist and MegaDeath), used disposable baby diapers, polystyrene packaging, used tires, radioactive waste, and pesticides than I am about unauthorized copies of words, music, and code. Shouldn’t you and everyone else (like the members of this mega-cartel) be too?

Their plan is just what you described. They are also trying for years to “instigate” an International tax, such as taxing at the well-head (Oil & Gas) so that people are “unaware” of such tax.

This is just one of their many, under-handed sleezy schemes. FORTUNATELY, many, MANY ppl on the net are aware of this!

Nice write-up. This little statement is “loaded”… If one thing can be said about the transition from the 20th Century to the 21st Century is this — For the first time in history the people CONTROL the medium (more or less) AND the content, in what is known as the Internet.

Man, I love the NET! Heck, I only watch an average of about 1/2 to 1 hour of TV, but spend “considerable” time on news sites. Heck, the Internet has Independent websites I KNOW I can trust to give me TRUTHFUL information — TV, Movies, Radio never, NEVER did that!

You got that wrong, Sir. We live in an age where virtually every every country on the planet is contaminated by BIG industry intent on stifling innovation and free (as in libre) exchange of ideas all in the name of profit.

Rest assured, the masses will rise against you as they always have. Reading a history book or two will do a “world” of good, Sir.

Hello TCPA, bye-bye free speech, fair use, free/open source software.
With this, they’re also gonna sneak in software patents, effectively killing most Free/Open Source software. If this thing gets passed through internationally, all internet users are f*cked.
